OP, you really need to concentrate on getting over the injury before you think about pursuing a claim. You have three years, so there is no rush.

Once it has healed, you can think about taking it further. Your best bet would be to seek advice from a solicitor, you may have access to one for free if you have legal expenses cover under your household insurance policy or if you are in a trade union.

I tripped over a crack in a pavement going down hill towards town one sunny day when I was 8 months pregnant, I ended up really damaging my knee, and fractured my pelvis no joke! Lots of people had complained on how dangerous it was, I never once thought about putting in a claim.

How can you have been identified ( do you mean diagnosed?) with a 'possibly' broken wrist? Presumably the x-rays you had hospital would have clarified this.

  • In fairness the OP (and I can't believe I'm defending one of these posts but hey ho) when Junior had an injured foot the hospital x-rayed it and put it in plaster for a week before removing it and then deciding he hadn't fractured anything.

Agree with everyone else's comment though about the compensation culture in this country getting to stupid levels.

Putting in claims like this just leads to ridiculous health and safety laws preventing all of us from doing anything normal.

Its a pavement, they arent always completely perfect, you tripped, accidents happen, get over it.
  • You should have watched were you were going. Don't be so moneygrabbing. My brother had a tree (in a verge)fall on his car and write it off, he was lucky he wasn't killed, he certainly couldn't have been at fault in anyway driving along a road, but he still didn't sue, you however ...
  • Another defending the OP here. My local hospital will not X-ray anyone at the weekend unless it is a head injury. You'll be sent home with painkillers and an appt for Monday. I suppose they may have not thought about the hospital until much later or possibly had no-one to take them?

If the OP's employer does not pay sick pay then why shouldn't they try to get their losses repaid IF someone else was at fault?

Give someone like National Accident Helpline a call. If they think you have even a sniff at a claim they'll give you advice.

That's shocking. X-rays and scans are certainly done here at the time of the injury and I hadn't heard of anything different. That said the OP hasn't even said if they've been seen by anyone medical.

Just checked the incident happened on the way to work on Friday and as they're in Glasgow have access to good medical facilities.
