Call your provider - get them blocked as nuisance callers.

it's always a withheld number, can O2 still block it? I don't want to have all withheld numbers blocked as some of my freinds and family have withheld numbers and I still want them to be able to phone me.

In the last letter I wrote to Halifax I did tell them I only wanted to be contacted in writing, or via cccs but they say they didn't recieve that letter....so that's 4 letters they say they haven't got yet, 2 from me and 2 from cccs  So they just keep calling.

It's withheld from you - not from O2.

Send all the contents of those letters to them again using Royal Mail signed-for. Also state that any breach will go directly to the Financial Ombudsman as their handling of both written and telephone communication constitutes mal-administration.

Thank you, I will do that, the only reason I didn't do it the first time round is because I didn't think they would ignore letters from the cccs, and was willing to give them the benfit of the doubt because the letters were sent just before christmas. I know from personal experience things to often go missing or get lost in the sytem at that time of year.

Thanks for you advice, I've had 2 more calls from GE Money, one at 8pm and one at about 8.50pm, hopefully that's it for tonight. Luckily they don't use a withheld number so it's really easy to screen the calls.

    Hey Looby !!!

GE were, by far, our worst creditor for phone calls.

We had at least 6 or 8 phone calls every day for weeks and weeks.

We only owe them £500, interest free, which on the scale of our debt, is nowt really.

They are the creditor I owe least to as well, just over £500. I am so tempted to answer the calls and do what someone here suggested, give them the wrong address and date of birth just to see what they do lol

Maybe if I am feeling brave tomorrow I might lol

I wasnt that brave. They had my mobile number so I stopped answering witheld numbers for ages.

Just before Christmas, I got new, really cheap mobile and changed my number.

With land lines, if you are getting nuisance calls, you can usually have your number changed for free. Worth thinking about, if things get really bad.

I think you may have mis-understood me. O2 will know the number they are calling from, so will be able to barr them. It's just us - the end user that doesn't get to see the number.

Otherwise stalkers could just go "withheld number" and couldn't be stopped.

I always send stuff that I know the recipient isn't going to like - "signed-for". It is actually cheaper in the long-run because it gets their attention at a earlier stage, so you don't have to write so many letters, and you don't have to resend stuff - which is getting quite expensive these days.

I will be sending a letter of complaint to Lloyds-TSB on monday - complaining about their complaints system...

    Signed-for of course...

I have an old mobile and a spare sim card, I might change my number to that for a while, inform everyone and answer calls on that number for a while then turn the mobile off for good. Don't know if it would work but I suppose it's worth a try

OH right, I see what you mean, sorry I did misunderstand you. I will phone O2 tomorrow and see if they can help. Hopefully I can find a way of explaining why I want the calls stopped without telling them I have money problems because I am on a contract with them on a very good deal that saves me a fortune on phone bills. It would cause me all kind of problems if they ended the contract _pale_

The next letter I send will be recorded/signed for. Thanks and good luck with your complaint.

Just say they are calling you frequently using a machine. They'll be able to see the truth of that from your phone records.

I don't really expect to get anywhere. But if they come up with some amusing reason as to why the lady of far-eastern extraction on the other end of their complaints number, wasn't actually supposed to know she was on the other end of their complaints number, and hence wasn't actually supposed to be able to deal with complaints  - I'll let everyone know.
