MBNA and Egg both accepted my DMP no problem, which was unexpected but nice.
But the Halifax conveniently haven't received the letters both I and the cccs have sent them about my DMP so they are still adding charges and interest, and phoning and sending letters every day, and now today I've had 2 calls from GE Money saying they won't accept my DMP proposal and they will also be adding charges and interest.
They say I have to review my finances and agree to send them an more acceptable amount and because I had used my card in the last 90 days they won't accept anything less than the minimum amount anyway.
What a pile of carp. My financial statement was only done at the start of Dec and nothing has changed since then so a new review is pointless and the the only reason I have used my card in the last 90 days is because I have been living on credit for month, robbing peter to pay paul until I got my lightbulb moment.
I tried to explain this to the lady on the phone but all she said is if you don't pay we will take you to court.
CCCS basically said they are going to pay the amount they propose anyway and just to ignore the phonecalls and letters until 90day since I last used my card (which will be soon anyway as I've not used it since the start of nov) then they will re send the proposal.
It's so frustrating, I am trying to do the right thing by going on a dmp, I was also offered the option of going bankrupt as it's going to take me so long to pay everything back and if Halifax and GE money don't start co operating I will never be debt free.
It makes me start to regret my decision to go the DMP way and not go bankrupt.

!!!!!!!!! I didn't have the money to pay them when they phoned at 2pm, I didn't have the money when they phoned at 4pm so what makes them think I will have the money when they phone at 6pm
I didn't even bother answering the phone this time, what time are they allowed to phone you up until?0 -
Hi looby
Your story is just like ours at the start of our DMP journey.
GE money accused me of using my card and I hadn't. At least you know you will be able to calim all the charges back so don't fret too much
I believe they can phone you until 9pm. Our last calls would usually be about 8.55!0 -
Thanks for the warning! If they phone again I'll answer and ask them what the exact date was that they say I used my card, that way I can keep a record of it in case they change their story at some point in the future!
After that the house phone will be turned off
Everyone who needs it knows my mobile. 0 -
Hi Looby - your posts sound similar to a lot of others I've read on here - I think the early stages of a DMP can be a bit frustrating, until everything settles down. Keep going, don't let them get you down, if you haven't got it, you can't pay it, it's a simple as that. Chin up, deep breath.....you WILL be okay xxx"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Thanks snaggles, I was expecting some phone calls and letters but I wasn't expecting quite so many, halifax in particular have been terrible, they phone my mobile every 15 mins, it's getting so bad I'm considering getting a new number, which I really don't want to do as I've had this number for 7 years.0

Could you answer with a different name, so they just think you've changed your number?

Insist all responses be in writing and inform them that you will not be discussing these matters over the phone.
You can also remind them of the OFT's Debt Collection Guidance, particularly
2. 5 Putting pressure on debtors or third parties is considered to be oppressive.
2. 6 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:
a. contacting debtors at unreasonable times and at unreasonable intervals
and
f. pressurising debtors to pay in full, in unreasonably large instalments, or to increase payments when they are unable to do so
and if the CCCS are involved, creditors should respond to them:
2. 7 Dealings with debtors are not to be deceitful and/or unfair.
2. 8 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:
c. refusing to deal with appointed or authorised third parties, such as Citizens Advice Bureaux, independent advice centres or money advisers
d. contacting debtors directly and bypassing their appointed representatives0 -
Looby - just wanted to say well done on keeping your cool and not giving in to them. Hang in there hun, from what peeps say it does settle down. I know it's easier said than done, but it seems you are doing great. They'll be adding me to their call list shortly - so it'll be 5 minutes less a day to call you
