Vista print, fine for personal stuff but all the off the shelf templates are rubbish, your business just looks the same as everyone elses. It doesn't cost a great deal more to have a decent design made for your business and printed on quality cards.
You don't have to use Vistas designs you can design your own and upload. I do this all the time. The cards aren't of the highest quality but all the cusomer cares about is that you provide the right service at the right price.
I don't know about anyone else here but I couldn't give two figgs what someones business card looks like if they are offering me good service.0 -

The plainer the better in my view - less is more. the ones done by the online companies seem to me to look a bit too flash.
You could try your local office statiionery shop. Most offer a service which is done in house and it is also a good way of connecting with your local business community.0 -

Thanks for that but I still don't and won't use vista print, the quality of the card and print isn't exactly the best. As I sell business cards as part of my core business I would never use them for a client. Like I have said before for personal use great, they are cheap as chips especially if you have the logo on the back.
Sorry but generally people to judge a book by its cover, its human nature good or bad. Obviously a business card has to reflect your business. IF your trying to sell something that is bespoke and maybe custom made a shabby business card won't do you any favours when trying to approach new clients. It always amazes me how people think others see their business at times and think image and presentation isn't important.

Or your local printshop: check their prices but the one we used to use regularly had a selection of their work on display, and that included various business cards!
and you could be supporting another local business who may in turn support your business which can only be a good thing!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Or if you want to ooze class, not flashiness, there are still some letraset printers around doing specialist stationery (wedding invitations and business cards primarily) and those cards do not feel mass-produced CMYK printed, but individual and classy.0

I think a lot of people are confusing price and number of colours with flashy. A lot really does depend on your business type.
If your a plumber, a solid card with few colours but with to the point information is perfect. There is no point in going for extra embossing, hotfoil etc thats just adding cost and "flashy" features for the sake of adding them.
On the other hand if your a bespoke painter offering potraits and charging a premium price a flimsy cheap business card doesn't offer the same appearance as a decent heavy card, regardless of the design.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Another vote for going to a local print shop: if you use the same one regularly then they are more likely to help you out when you need something in a hurry or otherwise outside their normal service. Depends on what your business is of course: if business cards are the only thing you will ever want printing then there's little point being friendly with the local shop."Every single person has at least one secret that would break your heart. If we could just remember this, I think there would be a lot more compassion and tolerance in the world."— Frank Warren0

Thats the attitude, no wonder UK businesses are struggling when people have the attitude not to support local businesses because they can save a couple of quid getting it elsewhere.
You may find your local print shop a lot more of a valuable resource than just a supplier of a few business cards. If your business is focused towards other businesses you may find them invaluable if you build up a good rapport, people recommend people they like and deal with personally.
I know from experience I have picked up a lot of work just from recommendations from the local print shop even though we are still in the same sort of work.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

To give examples;
If I get a workman in who does a brilliant job but when he gives me his business card it's a low quality home print I wouldn't thing "his card is shabby so I won't use him again" I would think " he was good I'll keep his card"
If I'm in a shop and looking at bespoke jewlery that I realy like and descide to take a card so that I can look at their website I wouldn't turn my nose up at them just because the card wasn't embossed and professionally deigned.
My wallet is full of Vista and similare business cheap cards for services and products I'm interested in and all I care about is that they have the correct contact details on them.
I would add that for companies in businesses such as banking, law etc. You would definately expect the card to be "all that and a bag of chips" but for th majority of small companies what would draw me in is the service and quality on offer, not a little peice of card with a name on it.0
