I still think you are missing the point of this forum, that is to be helpful and informative.

I've had 1,494 "thank yous" - so I doubt whether I have missed it.

This is your first thread - and you came on not seeking advice, but to use your friend's situation to have a go at bankers.

City remuneration is a topic worthy of debate. But not in the CC forum.

Somebody I know well had a zero percent credit card with Halifax, just over £ 7 000, the bill came to £ 74. The person sent £ 70. This morning they received a bill with £ 12 added and which stated that the account was now in arrears. They phoned Halifax and the operator cheerfully said that they would waive the £12 charge but now they would need to pay interest of over £ 90 per month for the foreseeable future.
The person was aware of how much to pay, why pay less?
It is credit cards money. If you think you are unable to follow their terms don't get the card or 0% offer.
If you don't make the minimum payment it is not fault of the card, it is your fault.
If you pay less than minimum than 0% offer is taken from you. Nothing wrong with it is it?
Do the person you know think card companies are bad, out there to make money etc?
If does than ask to find out who made the mistake

@thegoodman - Ignore wsx456. He's a spammer just trying to post build by reposting the OP in each thread.

This is my first thread and I did come on looking for advice, otherwise why do it? I did have a side swipe at bankers, but it was an aside. The main thrust of the thread was that I felt my friend was being very severely treated for a small, which could have no possible advantage to them. The credit card company has agreed.

I congratulate you on 1494 "thank yous", but it is still possible for you to have missed the point already mentioned.

On reading the first paragraph I realise that I have explained this before. You obviously don't believe me and think that I am lower than a snake's belly, a liar and a cheat. If so could we just leave it that or must it go on and on and on.

It has always been clear that my friend made a mistake, never denied. My friend never got any advantage from this. The card company agrees. You disagree. This, I hope, is the end of the story.

Usually people asking for advice ask a question. There was no question in your post. So I think you came on to have a swipe at bankers, as evidenced by your conclusion:

This person made a slight mistake - severe punishment. Banker makes mistake - bonus.

and further references to bankers' bonuses. (And of course this was proved wrong since your friend got a refund anyway.)

When I first posted I thought I clearly implied the question. It appears you did not pick up on this. But since then I have written many times that the question was there. You do not believe me, which is quite hurtful. Why would I not tell the truth?

The further references to bankers' bonuses were purely for clarification for your benefit.

Your last sentence does not make any sense.
