Ouch! Why did it take so long?

I dont really know, to be honest it wasn't until maybe a week before the application was made that i found this forum, so i didn't know how long it should have taken!

I know that my case worker changed 3 times, and they were only at my CAB once a week, so i think it had something to do with that? Everytime i got a letter or payslip i took it in to my case worker, but it never seemed to get any closer....it drove me mad! I had creditors asking me what was taking so long and i couldn't tell them!

Its horrible to think that had it been done as most... i would be in my final 3 months of the momutarium period...instead im 1 n half months in! The countdown has begun! :)

I received a letter today from a collector (this debt was with a different collector at the time of my DRO, and i informed them after it was approved) I rang Scotcall today to tell them its part of my DRO, he took my DRO number and said no problem ive updated the account. He told me Lowell had passed it onto them....?

You should inform the DRO unit of any changes to collectors also.

Sorry to hear it took you a while but at least it's done now :)

I didn't know that? I thought it was just a case i had to tell them that debt is subject to a DRO, give them the number and that was that? Won't Scotcall now just pass that back to Lowell anyway?

It depends if Lowell have bought the debt or are just acting on behalf of a creditor. Lowell has many different 'trading styles', so you should let the DRO know of any changes so that they can contact the creditor directly just in case Lowell or whoever don't get the message (fairly common!).

Yes Lowell have bought the debt! They are the name on my credit report for the debt even thought it wasn't from them initially!

That's a bit naughty of them then, but it doesn't neccesarily surprise me as sometimes the confirmation from the Insolvency Service takes a while to filter down to the right department... or at least that's their excuse ;)

Lowell were one of the worst for chasing me! They know of my DRO as I phoned them and gave them the DRO number! I dont worry now when i walk through the front door and see an envelope, cos i know i can phone them up and they wont talk to me like im something they just stepped in! As soon as ya say...This is debt is subject to a DRO they can't be any nicer...!

If the continue to chase, (ie demand payment) then do a formal complaint in writing. They're allowed to send you statements and anything they are required to under the consumer credit act, but they can't demand payment.
