The symbol on my card is on the back and next to the blue American Express logo:

There's nothing on the front to indicate that it's a contactless card - my MBNA and Barclaycard cards have the symbol on the front.

Just out of curiosity, if you don't need to remove the card from your wallet, how do you distinguish which card yo use? I have a Barclaycard, a Barclay's debit card and (it appears) I'm soon to get an Amex which will all be contactless.

Sorry if it's bleedin' obvious and I’m missing it, it's been a long long week!

I find sometimes it works, sometimes you get an error, sometimes it works and then the other card triggers an error. As a rule I try not to have RFID type cards together for fear of a problem. I've never had a situation where I've lost out but have had bizarre errors reports. Eg my Hong Kong octopus card gave a "staff pass not valid here" (or something like that) error when I put it on an oyster pad on a ticket machine in London. (Forgot where I was.) So the system isn't that great!

Well I got a new Nectar Credit card but it isn't contactless. I wish it was though.

Well at least my logic appears somewhat right. I can't say I've ever used it yet, not many places I've noticed even accept it. Greggs and McDonalds I think, and I'm not frequent visitors of either!

My American Express has had contactless since July, but it has never worked. I've tried it in two different Waitroses and in Boots. In Waitrose, I get no response from the reader and in Boots I get "contactless payment failed". I can pay in both places just fine with chip and pin with the same card. I've had two different issues of the same card and it hasn't worked with either.

Adjacent to the contactless reader, I see Visa and Mastercard logos, but no sign of the American Express logo.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Plus it's annoying because if I have it in my wallet with my oyster card, putting my wallet on the oyster card reader no longer works!!!! Grr contactless, more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe request a replacement? Sounds like a bad chip.

Not necessarily, I was signing for years with my Amex when the world + dog was chip and pin. Could be a while before the hardware catches up with Amex
