 Just trying to list my first ever book on Amazon, and where it says "Please verify that this is the exact book you want to sell" - well, the isbn and the ean are the same, and the picture of the book is the same (its quite a distinctive cover, with a lightning bolt down the middle of the front) but it says its published 4 May 1999, and mine is published in 1995. I don't know what to do! Shall I just leave it till I have more experience or what??

it may possibly be that someone has changed the listing information to a more recent edition or impression incorrectly, this does happen depressingly often. I wouldn't want to advise submitting an update/correction unless I was 100% sure as it is also possible that the publishers did reprint it and updated this info themselves.

Best to take advice already given and just add the publishing date of your copy to the item description. I'd also add to description as to whether it's a hardback or paperback, as this can sometimes be changed incorrectly. The worst I have ever had to deal with was a paperback I'd listed being changed to a VHS and only being credited the poxy VHS postage rate! This Happened Twice!!

Thats a *bad* change! It must be something funny like that. This paperback version is on for £14.99 min. price, but the hardback is on for £4.68 min price.

Oh, bleep, it can't be the same one. The one on Amazon has 352 pages, and mine has 334. Rats! Can anybody please advise what I do now, bearing in mind that the isbn and the ean are definitely the same??

Edited - I found the answer to my own question:o

Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

While listing some books on Amazon, I've noticed that some sellers list the condition of a book as Used - like new, but in the description it says Brand new - bit confused as to what this means. Is it new or used? Just curious.....

You're probably talking about wickedwendi and aphrohead, they do this to get double the amount of exposure. The books are brand new - it's just a selling tactic to get greater visibility.

I would just list it against the one you have found and say something like 'ISBN the same, but slightly different cover, 199? edition.'

CTC are you a pro-merchant on Amazon cos that's the only way to add listings I'm afraid?

I know for new DVDs that Amazon sometimes don't allow used copies to be sold for a while - presumably they want to get maximum sales and they may do the same for just published books???? Someone with more expereince than me should be able to confirm this or not. If that's not the case then I'm not sure why they wouldn't be accepting pre-orders unless its against their policy in some way and to do with their attitude to drop shipping

Also if its still on pre-order for hardback how comes you have the paperback version of it already? I thought the hardback came out first normally then the paperback sometime later but it may not be that simple? Is it a book club edition or something like that you have....?
