Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 7th October 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning x
Camelot - so sorry to hear about your hens. You must be so shocked and upset - (((hugs)))
I hope you are all feeling ok this morning. I have a busy day as I have my flu jab and then an xray this afternoon as the small camera i swallowed a few weeks ago has yet to make an appearance !!!
I had a good day with DS2 yesterday as he practiced making a goats cheese tart from scratch. I am enjoying helping him and we have a laugh. However one of our dogs was on a death wish yesterday as she positioned herself in the best place for scraps dropping but instead narrowly missed a sharp knife!!!!
Anyway I will be back to catch up on your news x

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Molly and all who follow, wide awake at silly o'clock this morning.lay there thinking of all the things I had to do then decided I might at well get up and get on with them.Sorted out a few bills and paid them and some letters I had to write so a quick peek in here then I'm off for a shower and some breakfast .History club this afternoon and we are discussing the relative merits of Gladstone and Disralli as Prime ministers.I know it sounds a bit dry but our history club is anything but that as we all sometimes wander off onto other bits.We are all history nuts and do enjoy our Friday afternoons.I am popping down to see youngest DGD Holly this morning for a cuppa to see how she is progressing at Uni.She decided to go to our local campus in the Medway so she could save on living expences, very wise I think.
Right time I really got a wriggle on as time seems to fly by first thing and I have the boys to sort out at 8.00a.m.
Take care all and whatever you are doing enjoy yourselves
Cheers JackieO xx0 -

Morning all, before and after!
I've not been brave enough to look out of the curtains this morning. Yesterday was changeable to say the least but seemed eventually to settle for wind 'n' rain - real autumn weather. I suspect today will be more of the same although I haven't heard the wind gusting yet.
Yesterday was a day of waiting - for the Mr S delivery and then that of the boys' new activity centre. Sammy-cat helped me build it when it arrived and they're both enjoying finding treats secreted on the different platforms
Today has the potential to be an NSD. I should go to the library (although I'm tired and tempted just to renew my books online). Then I've a little pet-sitting job to do in the afternoon which needs to be fitted around cooking dinner for M&D who are coming tonight for a little celebration of their birthdays (which were both in September when they were on holiday). We're having Sweet Potato Soup, Tuna and Spinach Lasagne and Apple Crumble. The soup's been living in the freezer and is now defrosting but the lasagne and crumble both need making from scratch. I'd be looking forward to this if I were not so tired ...
Hope everyone else has a good dayHousehold: Laura + William-cat

Easy start as the kids are off today - one with a cold, one with sickness and the other because her school's close so no packed lunches to sort and there's let over pasta bake for their lunch, Dinner will be sausages.
Got the carpet laid and the curtains up in the girls room last night and they both slept in their although there is no other furniture except beds!
Busy day at work today as I was of wednesday and in meetings most of yesterday so need to clear my 'to do' pile for hometime otherwise it will annoy me all weekend!
Online shop coming this evening...with alcohol
Have a good day xClimbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness

Morning All
Woke up at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep so decided to get up. I have mended a couple of items of clothing that had split seams and also fixed the handle of my packed lunch bag. Jobs that didn't take long, I should have done them before.
Neither of the missing hens returned last night so they were obviously taken away. Thought it only right that I had eggs for breakfast, I shall miss them, I don't think I have bought eggs for about 7 years!
Off to a first aid course today (again), it's in the back of beyond and lunch will not be supplied. I hope there is at least tea and coffee as it can be cold there.
The weather seems a little calmer today, we had terrible rain and wind yesterday along with the thunder and hail stones. There is also snow on the hills just north of here!
Hope you all have a good day - at least it's Friday!! Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Camelot, so sorry to hear about your chickens, my much loved hens were killed by a fox about 2 years ago and I still haven't had the heart to replace them.

Notjustlaura - dinner sounds lush, hope your and your parents have a lovely meal
Up early today, but i have the day off :j unless it gets dead busy at work, then i have said to call me in. OH is off to work, we went out for dinner last night in the end. Our local (our second home pretty much, we met there) has an ex (you can't take them with you when you leave somewhere) michelin star chef there, his food is to die for, so we went for a pint and ended up eating too. I used to work there so know him really well, I want to ask him to cater for my wedding.
So plan for today is to tidy the house up. Only the kitchen is a major task, soak in the tub for a while, walk the pupster and help the door man if he wants it.
Landlord called last night, we had always wondered if they knew we had a dog, we mentioned it to the agent when viewing the property and to his MIL when we went on our first viewing, but never again recently as thought it was non issue. Which it is thankfully. So long as he doesn't bark and being annoying to people, which is a weight off really. Still want to move though.
Have a lovely day all
