Barclays debit account PPI

Recently sent off my letter of complaint regarding the Additions overdraft PPI that was on my account, received a letter from Barclays a few days ago saying that they are investigating it, hopefully I should hear back within 8 weeks (as stated on their website), I had an additions account since 1999 and never knew I was paying for Overdraft protection! Cheeky whats-its! Anyone with this account should write to Barlcays and try to claim this back. FINGERS CROSSED!0

If the PPI was added without being placed on agreements, would it then show on the terms and conditions/statements or would it simply be added to the monthly fee? If so, would a straight letter asking them to look into be a better option rather than asking for my terms and conditions?
Thanks0 -
I would just call them and complain, thats what I did.
IMO Overdraft protection was something they just added to Additions accounts without asking.
Every post I have seen on this website and others have reported an upheld to this complaint.
Good luck.Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!
MFW 2015 £100 /£1000
Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!0 -

Definitely give them a call, a couple of earlier posts on this thread will give you a Barclays Dublin number (Lady was very helpful), call them and they will give you the policy details if you havent got them, they will then give you a UK Barclays telephone number and they will ask to you go online print the PPI Claim form and send it off direct to Barlcays.
A few people on the site have been successful with their claims regarding this overdraft protection (PPI), so go for it!

Thanks for the information Little Italy.
I registered my complaint on Tuesday but will phone Dublin number for date policy started. I only have statements going back to 2007. I want to be certain of dates when I fill in the claim form in-if that is possible.
Do you know if they refund all monthly payments and 8% interest? I was told it will take up to 8 weeks to get decision. Fingers crossed.
Thanks again0 -

Hi Placida, dont worry about your statements, if you phone the Dublin telephone number they will give you the policy numbers and dates and that is all the information you need, download the ppi claim form from the Barlcays website and fill the forms out, pretty basic. In regards to the claim - they should refund the monthly payment (if you look at the small print - 80p charged to every £100 on your overdraft protected) PLUS 8%.
(Therefore - now this is a rough calculation, if you had an overdraft of say £1000 per month and you reached this limit then Barclays would charge you £8.00 for the privledge of protecting your overdraft - therefore £8.00 per month x number of years + 8% simple interest monthly @ 64p) ie £8.64 x 12 months = £103.68 per annum multiplied by the number of years).
Some people have had success, keep badgering away at them, call them 2-3 weeks after you've sent the forms and see how they are progressing with the claim. HOPE THIS HELPS.:)0 -

Thanks for the information Little Italy .
My son phoned the Dublin number you gave when he realised he had had overdraft protection on an Additions account before he changed it last year. They were very helpful and told him he had been paying it since 1999!!!
He registered his complaint the same day. Not sure they will pay that far back though:(
Have you heard anything yet?0 -

No problems, anytime! You may be suprised by what they will pay. The way im looking at it though is whatever they do pay - at least you are getting something back. Some people have claimed quite a bit back from 1999/2000/2001, so there is hope. I received my letter from them stating that they were investigating it. Followed up with a phone call - in a queue of claims, they have 8 weeks from receipt of letter to inform you whether your complaint has been upheld. FINGERS CROSSED, POSITIVE THINKING.0 -
Letter sent for this today. Fingers crossed0
