Thanks for that - I have a 9kwt stove. Is that what determines whether to have a 2 fan or 3 fan type?0

This two blade is by the most recommended company for ecofans. The three blade is quite new and Id have thought it was more suitable for the much larger outputs - in theory with 50% extra blades Id assume it will move that much more hot air about?. OH isnt here to ask
Maybe some of the other fitters/sweeps can advise us. Important though that you have a temperature gauge on your stove to make sure its working at optimum temps. 0 -
I think all the ecofans intended for woodstoves are now two bladed - the blade design has been changed so that both models now have two - but one shifts more air than the other. The three bladed current model is for gas stoves, and won't be suitable for woodstoves as it's max temperature is 150 degrees. As far as I remember, the old version of the high output fan (150cfm as opposed to 100cfm) had three blades. So make sure you get one of those intended for a woodstove rather than a gas stove!
The last person I spoke to who had both versions said there wasn't a lot to choose between the two - though these may have been the old versions. The benefit of the new 812 model, which is the larger output of the two, is that the fan works at a wider range of stove top temperatures. The original ecofan works between 150 and 340 degrees centigrade and the new type starts spinning at just 65 degrees instead.
Hope that's not confused you too much!!
Edited to say that I'd advise getting a genuine ecofan and not one of the Chinese copies - not heard very good reports on them!
