Likewise, the brief also tells you what to say if a member of staff asks you what you are doing (effectively overt), if you do complete it on your phone are you therefore completing it covertly possibly not what the client wants?0 -
Boredupnorth - I have sent you a PM.No Matter what you do there will be critics.0

On 01/12/2010 I did a phone shop and a very posh department store. Weirdly enough, I have both of them lined up for tomorrow. Spooky eh? Mind you, this time I have another 10 visits to do too. And we are not caked in snow like this time last year!
PS. Would it be advisable to have the GR Q Audit tips on the first page of this thread? We seem to discuss it every other month.0 -

Who can tell - hopefully soon but they like to keep us on our toes I think. The other thing is that payments into bank accounts seem to come during the day so even if it's not there at the beginning of the day it might be there later on.
I wonder if mine will be into my bank account or paypal - some months it's one and some months the other and there seems no rhyme or reason as to which it is.0 -
I use the audit form and just fold it and rest on my hand. I just use the first column and put a tick if everything is ok, then my own codes if something is wrong. Eg: +3 (queue of 3 or more), NS (closed, no sign) etc. I find that easier. Here I go again on my own....0

I think everyone is nervous of that GR checkout job initially! I asked the same questions and got good advice from the forum.
I print off the form as per the brief, grab a clipboard and it takes no time at all. For me I have far greater chance of typos and errors trying to use a mobile phone and it would take much longer so that option wouldn't be good for me. Use what works best for you and if you are a whizz on the mobile use it but there is no need to be covert, just get on with it and the staff are usually too busy to notice in any case.
I use my mobile phone but not to type on. I use the voice recorder or video feature and walk along the ailses dictating into it so I can make my notes later.

They are not scary, prior preparation is necessary to have a clear idea what you are going to go for off the list. Remember that some of the choices given are big to be lugging around.
The timing points have a feint whiff of gap buger about them but generally because the process is slower, especially this time of year, it's not so manic. Because of the return aspect of the assignment they are best done if you have other work in the area to make productive use of the "return period" but you know all that anyway you old pro you!
I don't mind doing them, the report is fine.
I did my first one of these yesterday and unfortunately due to the schools strike it was manic in the town! Lots of people in the shop. But it was not too hard as you get to look at the screens and write things down so you have a chance to make surreptitious notes on nos of staff and customers etc and look around while making your "choice" from the catalogue. I thought the fee was about right as the report, as you say, was not too long. I just went normal shopping in my 45 minutes.0
