If you drink the volumes of tea that I do a flask wouldn't be big enough :rotfl: I drink it by the pot - and when the pot is empty I make another one
To be honest the kettle is rarely off when I'm at home, so I'm not very MSE in that regard.
I've got a flask that holds 1.9 L,so it gets me by.I can't drink tea that's 'stewed',so make a cup at a time.Living on my own,the flask is enough...:)0 -
Haha.. this is where I start to feel embarrassed about being so tight.
I drink a lot of tea. I use the same teabag for two cups.
I take sachets of salt, pepper, sugar, sauces, etc, from the cafeteria.
I make porridge for breakfast using water rather than milk.
I never buy toilet roll because I take some for free from public toilets. < definitely the strangest one
I re-use paper bags from shops to wrap packages for postage.
*shame*
I know I harp on about this but theres money saving and theres money stealing - theres a difference. Saving money for yourself by costing someone else money is NOT money saving.
Salt, Pepper, etc from cafeteria - this is not money saving. The cafeteria has to pay for them!
Toilet roll from public toilets - public money has been used to pay for this - its not a free for all....0 -
wow thats a lot of money for shopping but not everyone has this to spend on shopping or refuses i personally refuse to pay this amount for 3 people at the moment we are 2 adults and 1 child and expecting + cat
Our budget is £30 a week and £10 petrol £8 on electric and £10 on gas pre payment cards and im watching every penny as every saving counts as we want to own our own home.
their aint half some party poopers on this thread lol
Fair does. Good for you if you can stick to that.....0 -

Didnt say I was skint. Its all relative though. I'm not rich either....0 -
Shotgun_Rider wrote: »I've seen a few people mention this but if you just put the amount of water you need into the kettle each time you want tea or coffee then you are not boiling any more water than you need anyhow
Exactly - cost of boiling one full kettle = cost of boiling 1/4 full kettle 4 times anyway!!!
Admitedly, if you fill it to the brim every time then it costs more if you dont use the water.
Even so, I'm doubtful that the saving is worth bothering with anyway though!0 -

.
I think you might save a penny a lifetime by heating 4L of water at once in one big kettle rather than heating 8 lots of 500mL. Each time you turn the kettle on you need to heat fabric of the kettle itself before the water gets to boiling too. Doing it once means you only need heat up the kettle itself once. Bit extreme though!Skip dipper and proud....0 -
I use supermarket plastic bags as bin bags.
I use little bit of washing liquid with lots of water to clena my daily dishes.
I use pea-size amount of toothpaste for every brush.
I use cheap BIC-like one-timer shaving razors. To me five-blade and one blade does not make much difference. I can use one razor several times.
I became bald (thanks god no inheritance tax for that). I trim my own hair. A 20 pound trimmer works for years. I save money by using less shampoos, no gel and zero other hair-care products. (one confession: during winter I wish I had hair)
I sometimes leave my wallet when I go out.
Hmm. Not sure about the cheapie razors. I find they cut your face to bits....0 -

I don't use bags and don't like stewed tea. Actually when I make tea most people would think it's a bit of a palaver. I have a small teapot which has a sieve insert, so I put a spoon of tea in it, pour on the boiling water, stir a couple of times, then pour it into a bigger teapot, then refill the smaller one and pour it into the bigger one!I use supermarket plastic bags as bin bags.

I use supermarket plastic bags as bin bags too. I usually shop using my own homemade bags, but when I'm running out of plastic ones I 'forget' to take them with me :rotfl:
My DH prefers to use the single blade BIC razors - I use an epilady. His reaction to that is
My DH is also (mainly) bald, so I cut his hair using our own Wahl clippers (other makes are available)
