Haha.. this is where I start to feel embarrassed about being so tight.
I drink a lot of tea. I use the same teabag for two cups.
I take sachets of salt, pepper, sugar, sauces, etc, from the cafeteria.
I make porridge for breakfast using water rather than milk.
I never buy toilet roll because I take some for free from public toilets. < definitely the strangest one
I re-use paper bags from shops to wrap packages for postage.
*shame*
There is one here not to be ashamed of at all.
Making porridge with water is the traditional way of making it (many would say proper and best way). I think it is actually the way it is recommended on the porridge packet.0 -

I don't know what made me think of it. Moving into a shared house though, since I have the one bedroom on the ground floor which is next to the toilet, I automatically became responsible for it. I'm definitely not paying for everyone else to wipe their rears!November: £35.31/£??.??December: £8.78/£30.000 -
;47812819]Either I'm fortunate enough not to be as skint as some of the people on here or maybe I'm just not thrifty enough but some of the things on here seem just downright pointless?
More trouble than they're worth to save a few pennies. Do most of you do these things just to save the money because you want to or because you're so skint you have to?
I must admit its a whole new world to me. My idea of saving is spending £700 instead of £900 a month on the shopping for the 3 of us (now I'll admit £900 is a bit out of hand!)
wow thats a lot of money for shopping but not everyone has this to spend on shopping or refuses i personally refuse to pay this amount for 3 people at the moment we are 2 adults and 1 child and expecting + cat
Our budget is £30 a week and £10 petrol £8 on electric and £10 on gas pre payment cards and im watching every penny as every saving counts as we want to own our own home.
their aint half some party poopers on this thread lolTrying to make big cut backs!!!

When i lived in a shared house toilet roll was like gold dust (kitchen roll non existant). I had to keep toilet roll in my room (locked) and take it to the bathroom with me every time:rotfl:mummy to my beautiful lil man born August 20110 -

With all due respect Paul but if you can afford to pay between £700 and £900 a month just on your grocery shopping you are not in the least bit skint. A lot of people don't even earn £900 a month!0 -
p.s i wash most items on a 30 min cycle and same for the dishwasher, however soiled or stained items will go on a hot wash.
I use a a nearly filled baby milk scooper saved from when my 4 year old son was a baby, to measure the powder i put in.
I also use half a cap of the softner. i also use asda/tesco own bilogical powder brilliant on stains or for putting in the carpet washer to clean my nice cream rug, i mix water and powder first and allow too cool alittle and give time to dissolve its fab!!!!!
i top up my wash powder sometimes with soda crystals if i buy a branded box on offer to make it go futher.
I snap a dishwasher tablet in half, i possibly could get away with doing it again as i have a slimline dishwasher.
my son has a bath first only needs half a bath of warm water, then my partner tops it up with hot water as he likes it hot enough to boil a lobster init, i get init after hate hot baths plue im pregnant and cant anyways, i leave water in bath to heat room up and then water the plants with any left over water when ive let it go cold first.
light candles at night after son has gone to bed and turn thermo down and put pjs and slippers on as well as grabbing my nice throw.
I save any left over food and have for another day or with a jacket taiter or suprise dinner night lol
i will think of ways to recyle smething before i lob it in the bin.
I follow my oh and son around the house and turn things off even the microwave.
if their is a stain in something out comes the bicarba and vinegar lol everyone i know says if you have a stain on anything ask dom first lol
i fill a thermos up in winter full and dont have to boil kettle again.. i dont put a tea bag or anything init just incase we have someone pop round they can have whatever drink they want without me reboiling the kettle and reuse tea bags so ive killed 2 birds with one stone.
my oh says he doesnt like pork and in our area its always in the reduced section and never used to bother, but i saw some reduced in tesco perfectly fine to make a stew from for £1.50 so i did, oh thought it was the best stew i had ever done pmsl will be giving a gammon joint a go on sunday and just say its ham.............well its the same thing lol and he likes ham not gammon???? so he says i know confussed me too lol well it was reduced to £3.50 instead of £4.50 in lidl think they are still on offer for 1kg jointTrying to make big cut backs!!!

I've seen a few people mention this but if you just put the amount of water you need into the kettle each time you want tea or coffee then you are not boiling any more water than you need anyhow0 -
I've just thought of something we used to do years ago - if we had a whole stale loaf, we used to soak it under the tap and then put in oven for a while. It came out like new!£2 Savers Club 2018 No 18:)0
