I haven't read the whole thread, but I think what I do, other people already do as well (good to see I'm "normal", lol)
Use hotel shampoo/soap/showergel/conditioner/lotion
Some hotels I stay in have little plastic bags for sanitary things, and I use these as poop bags for the dogs
Take the spare roll of loo paper from hotels to use at home (only if it's nice, mind)
Refuse to put the heating on until it gets really cold, using blankets/throws instead, oh and I often wear my dressing gown over my clothes when I feel the chill
I always use everything in the fridge, even if it means eating a weird concoction of a meal
Only ever buy clothes/shoes in the sales
Wear clothes (apart from undies and socks/hosiery) several times before washing, unless dirty. Use towel at least 4 times before washing.
Don't have a tumble drier, but use an airer, the airing cupboard and radiators
Growing own veg when season permits
Go grocery shopping with a friend - share petrol (not walking/bus distance) and special offers
Only buy cheap wine :rotfl:0 -
I take a pastry brush to the cheese grater to make sure I get all the lemon/orange zest off it when I've grated it for a recipe.Aiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!0

Stayed at BIL's to lunch. Normally sandwiches. They apologized that they had no salad. I said I'd get some. Popped out into their garden and picked weeds and flowers, all of which I knew were edible.
They were quite taken aback.:o:o
Hubby and I ate them, as we often do at home.
I don't think I've converted SIL
but I enjoyed their faces :rotfl:
that's because she's watched next doors cat, pee on them for the last 6 months.0 -
Hi
I'm off work at the moment and I was bored, so I have just spent the whole afternoon reading various bits and pieces on the forum. Then I found this thread and have read the whole 22 pages - and you guys make me smile!
So - what do I do?
Yes:- take toiletries from hotel rooms (my mum used to call these "bunce" - she had drawers full of bunce)
- Wear stuff (not nix and sox) until it is actually dirty, then wash it
- I have no idea how many times I use towels before I wash them - I wash them when they need washing, not by some counting system. Certainly, I use them more than anyone here does. (sounds a bit gross now I've re-read it, but I have healthy kids and I don't get sick much....)
- Change the bedding when I think it needs changing (also probably once a month). I shower every night and every morning, so I figure it must be clean!
- Embarrassing one: the whole blow nose, then use loo roll where needed... I always thought I was the only one who did this!
- Minesweep drinks (too damned risky methinks)

If you don't know where you're going, how do you know when you've arrived?0 -
Have enjoyed reading these ideas/tips and will admit to many of them.
One thing I do is save margarine/butter tubs for when making mash. I add a small amount of milk and microwave for a few seconds. he butter melts and the milk warms. Then add to potatoes and mash.
I also send OH to the local supermarket to do a number two. This is for more reasons than just money saving but it has made a big difference to our toilet roll consumption!
When eating out I rarely finish. I'm too embarrassed to ask for a doggy bag so we wrap up meat and veg in the serviettes for our cats and rabbit to enjoy. If the kids are with us then my plate usually makes it's way round the table with everyone having a bit.0 -

It'd probably be cheaper to shower once a day and chance your bedding more frequently!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Today DD left milk at the bottom of her cereal bowl - so i added my cereal to it and ate that!
I do sometimes nick milk from the fridge for my coffee at work, tho everyone does that and quite often people nick mine.
I wash towels when they need it too, but bedding is every 1 - 2 weeks, i'm not precious about it. I'm not embarrassed about it either.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Do you make him pee out the back garden as well? LOL0 -
;47969915]I thought the poster was joking about this...
Surely they dont do this just to get free food/drink?
I don't think it matters. Churches are there in part to serve their local community after all. If people in the community are hungry, the church should be feeding them imo.
Reminds me of when my friends husband went to church so their kid could get into a certain school. He got converted & now my friend has to spend the summer without him as he goes on short-term missionary trips.0
