I am totally discombobulated as my ma refused to go shopping AGAIN today - turns out my mum thinks my cousin shops slower than a tortoise with arthritis (this coming from my mum who is soooooooo slooooooooow) and my mum couldn't bear it!

LavenderBees wrote: »Aye, well £3500 is one hell of a miscalculation . I know there is no chance of finding anything like that money but today have hopefully worked up £50 towards it that I wouldn't normally have bothered with -by reducing the Norton renewal amount (almost halved it from £65 last year thanks to advice on MSE forum) and saving £7 on cat food. Will order it online. And also hopefully earning £15 on topcashback for 2 week lovefilm trial, which I'll cancel next year (actually just next week! Eek!). So, not a fortune...but, as I say, money I probably wouldn't have worried about too much if I'd reduced my target down to the possibly achievable rather than leaving it at the definitely unachievable.
So, not bad for a day in front of the fire (the walk? ...well...it got shelved in favour of saving money). I've also started investigating ebay as have never really thought about that - seems like a lot of effort, but I'll spend january weekends investigating it (and Gumtree) further and see what seems possible. E.G I have a wedding dress, and an evening dress that would do as a bridesmaid's dress and as it'll be coming up to wedding season, someone may just benefit from a wee bargain, while swelling my MFW coffers :rotfl:
Sorry, I am hijacking your diary to get my thoughts out. I should really start my own  . Sorry, again.
P.S. your freezers & dehydrator sound fab! :money:

Hurdler.....I love your description of your cousins shopping style :rotfl: on the rare occasions anyone manages to drag me to a shop, I have generally gone in, chosen item, paid and got back to my car before they have got through the door!!! My dd thinks it is like shopping with the tazmanian devil and therefore pointless....my cunning plan worked!!:dance:Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Phew! thank goodness for that! I thought I'd said I'd start today so would have failed spectacularly . Tomorrow is definitely a good day to start as out & about, and then lunch with my lovely slim friend
No leftover roasts in the fridge now, no wine opened after this last mouthful...
I can do it...:A0 -

Am proud of you...keep it going...:T
My day out has gone pear shaped as I slept badly last night (too much being on't internet and not enough exercise methinks) so didn't want to drive all the way to town and back. Have re-arranged it for NYE, which is lovely to look forward to now. It's given me the opportunity to use up some of me sprouts and carrots with the little bit of blue cheese left, and I've made a delish soup - just had some yum!yum! About to get ready and go to my local garden centre as I have gift vouchers to spend, if I find anything I NEED at a price that suits me. I'm becoming so [STRIKE]tight[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]cheap[/STRIKE] frugal.
I have no chocolate in the house () now except some choc mint things that I'll keep to take to my neighbour's house later in the week (I intend to leave them there). NYE, I might allow myself a wee tipple...is that allowed under our challenge?? Or have I signed up to total abstinence? :rotfl:I won't be buying any more...but I have some in....whinge, whinge, wheedle :rotfl:

Hmm.... s'pose I could look the other way and let you have a little drinky ...but just this once!!!:rotfl:
I have spent most of the day making stuff for the freezer for when I go back to work and can't be ar*ed to cook.....ravioli stuffed with vegan cream cheese, pine nuts and spicy peppers, some stuffed with garlic, olives, capers and sundried tomatoes and another lot stuffed with vegan bolognese and cheese....nomnomnom.....:D still have lots of pasta dough left and as I made it with garlic, herbs and tomato puree I will cut it random shapes and dehydrate it for future use.....:T
also used bolognese for jacket potato 'boats' and will use the rest of the potato that is left from those to make some herb gnocchi.... feeling super virtuous now!!:A
Anyhoo....better get on with it....pasta won't shape itself... hope you have a better nights sleep tonight....:DMortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Can I come and live in your house? Your cooking sounds delish
It's blowing a hoolie here
Well, obviously old habits die hard as I managed to spend my vouchers and a little bit more (£11), but got over a hundred quids worth of "stuff" for my £11 (Xmas pressies/cards/wrapping paper etc) , so I guess not too bad, really. I'll be pleased by next December when I remember it's saved me lots of dosh....:o, but not so pleased at the mo, as this money can only come out of my teeny food budget...everything but food in my food budget :rotfl:
Thanks for allowing me a drinkie on Saturday. I'll still have cut down a lot, and then it's good as gold, I'll be for a few months :A
Just re-read your post and I'm STARVING now

I think that as long as you don't get to next December and forget that you have bought it all so buy it all again (speaking from bitter experience) ......you made some frugal purchases there!!
Welcome for dinner anytime.....bit of a drive though!!! :rotfl:Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

have been cooking rice pudding today....house smells of vanilla...nomnomnom...:D
have had a good look at my pennies this month and think that I can probably squeeze an additional £50 out of it to OP if I try really hard..;) won't know for definate until after 1st though....
The kids are driving me nuts at the moment, they seem to have had a mental breakdown when it comes to communicating when they will or won't be here for dinner......:mad: so lots of things being cooked and frozen in individual portions for 'freezer' dinners when they finally turn up!! Saves me time in the long run, but getting a bit miffed at spending holidays thinking of things to cook only to find out that no-one is eating
I am still doing well on the not throwing food away though....everything I am cooking is being based around stuff that is getting to the point of needing to be used....plus, I have dehydrated a few bits of fruit and veg which would definatley not have been used in the next few days and discovered that dehydrated courgettes are lush to snack on!! Taste fab, healthy and now shortly to be accompanied by carrot and beetroot which is in the dehydrator as we speak!!! I was going to put them all in a casserole mix for another day, but have taken a real fancy to them
Anyhoo.....I haven't ventured out of my house since solstice....so that is 6 NSD's since payday!!!:j:j:j One of the definate benefits of not smoking is not having to go to the shops....saves me much more than just the price of a packet of fags :T
Happy OPing..:D:wave:Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913
