...Need to go and get myself sorted as going to colleagues funeral today, meeting my other colleagues at work so we can take as few cars as possible and we're all together. Not sure how I'll feel when I get back - so may or may not do very much for the rest of the day. ...
A sad thing to have to do. Hope the funeral goes off as well as such a thing can.Household: Laura + William-cat

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't been back since Mon, the first half of the first week at Uni has been frantic and this half doesn't look like being much quieter! WM on before I go as my lecture's only for an hour (hardly worth going in for!) then some quick printing off at the Uni as my printer at home isn't set up yet, sort out some other admin while I'm up there and then back home again to put out the washing and tidy up. Quick lunch, out again to a meeting in town (walking it, parking costs a fortune down there!), meal plan then Mr S shop for the next few weeks. I'm aiming to get over £60 worth so I can get the petrol voucher, my car is really drinking fuel since I've started trekking to Uni and back every day. Then planning the book list for my first essay, more tidying up, dinner (HM fish pie, I think) and then collapse in a heap. At least I'll sleep tonight.
On a slightly less OS note, I was quite shocked to hear about Steve Jobs dying. I guess because I hadn't heard he was terminal, I presumed he was getting better. I never thought I'd turn into a Apple fangirl but I think I can appreciate what the world has lost.

Good Morning all,and Happy Birthday to Miss BB Hope she has a fantastic day Oh to be 11 again
:)
Sad about Steve Jobs ,he was definitely a man of his time and has brought a lot to the world in his not too long life.
Alls well in my world at the moment I have had my consultants appointment re-arranged for next Wednesday and Monday morning I have my 'flu jab its all drs next week.
finally making some headway into my freezer and its becoming slightly less full which is good as it means I will be able to defrost and clean before Christmas hopefully .Plus shopping from my freezer has meant I'm saving a bit from my 'food float' money.
A lovely breezy day today and so nice to get a bit of fresh air for a change. I have spoken to Dd and apparently my BIL funeral went quite well and no one came to blows with his wife ,which in itself was a bit of a miracle as she split the brothers up when they got married.DD said sitting with her surviving Uncle Ray was like being with her Dad again as they were so alike to look at, and they had the same gentle easy going way with them.
Well time I got a wriggle on as I want to swish through the sitting room with the vacuum and give it a quite polish and dust. Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning all
I am udner strict instructions to have the rest of the week off and rest. Of course, I feel absolutely dreadful and guilty about this. But this morning I'm so dizzy I couldn't even make myself a cup of tea - had to lie down on the kitchen floor and then basically crawl (I know, such a drama queen!) back up to bed. I'm getting sick of it and wishing it would go away
Also am meant to have finished Year 7 reports by the end of the day (why? why so early in the term? I don't even know their names yet!) but this has proved difficult dyue to...not being at work. I can't seem to log on to the system from home to do it, so not really sure what I'm going to do. That is stressing me out as well.
In better news, got a new sofa and a bed for the guest room coming today! We ordered them in July in the Laura Ashley sale...can't even remember what the sofa looks like, it was so long ago. But now we will be a two sofa household! We moved from our rented house where the living room was so tiny that our one sofa overwhelmed it, to our new hosue where the living room is about three and a half times the size of the old one so it looks ridiculous with one sofa and a TV. It will start to look a bit more lived-in and homely when the new sofa comes
I'm doing a good deed today by having my grandparents over...ostensibly they are coming round to 'look after me' but actually my grandad will be able to leave my nanny here while he goes out to some...thing....I think it's for old men and it's like a lecture or something about an interesting topic and then they go to the pub. Anyway, he has never been before despite the fact that his BIL and his friends go, because my nanny is so selfish she refuses to acknowledge that she actually can't walk or get up the stairs to the loo or do anything for herself and can't really be left alone as she refuses to get a stick or rails in the bathroom or a stairlift or anything that would make her life easier - she also won't stand for having anyone come to sit with her so my poor grandad (who is still extremely able and active) spends his whole life welded to her side looking after her because she won't bl*ody admit she needs any help. She also hates all these social activities because "they're for old people, not really people like us"....you're 77, woman, when are you going to admit you ARE one of the old people and actually enjoy all these opportunities that are available! Anyway, if she's here to 'look after me' then I can actually look after her, and my grandad can get a much needed couple of hours out. So it's a win win situation.
Sorry, that turned into a big rant!
I have a friend coming round after schoolk today, she has just started her teacher training at the school down the road from mine. I thought about asking her not to come but then decided it would probably do me good as OH has been away since last Friday so I'm a bit lonely...but in a very non OS way I may end up treating us to a takeaway. Will see how I feel - could get chicken out of the freezer - but I won't if I feel too rough, I'll just give in and abandon OS for the day. It's been a long time since Dominos has had any custom from this household...
Anyway, hope everyone else feels better than I do and has a good day! Isn't it a shame that the only time you get to stay off work, abandon the chores and just laze around, you feel too poorly to enjoy it? I doubt I'll be moving much from the sofa today0
