i have checked this afternoon. coming from the booster/amplifier box is a short piece of coax about 6 inches long, which goes into a splitter. coming out the other end of that is a cable for downstairs and a cable for upstairs.
the bit i need to go into the splitter for the downstairs TV, is a little piece of metal that covers the cable removed to expose the wire to go into the splitter. the small piece of metal has a bolt on it that makes sure the wire to splitter connection is secure. at the other end is just a standard coax to TV connection.
sorry if i have confused anyone.SPC 0370 -
Ok i am totally confused about this one. I even work in a shop where my section is aerials, cable and all the connections that is required.
i know of no splitter where you place bare cable into it, except for a wall faceplate.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
if someone knows how to upload photos onto here i can show youSPC 0370

ok, the splitter has a bit of white plasctic on it with a small hole in the middle. the outside of the coax cable has been cut away to expose a piece of copper wire, which is put into the small hole in the splitter. a piece of metal about half an inch in length then covers the connection and a bolt is tightend onto the splitter.SPC 0370

Are you sure it is a splitter and not an double outlet box, which i guess can be called a splitter.

i believe it is a splitter. very similar to this one.

the copper wire in the centre of the coax goes into the hole in the centre of the splitter, and a small metal cover goes over the join and a bolt secures it.SPC 0370 -
I know what you mean know, that is a splitter. Uses f connector, same as you use for a satellite box, get them from maplin £2 for 1 or ebay is cheaper.
So the cable comes from booster to this splitter then splits of too 2 tv's if so, you are also halving the signal. Be better to have booster with 2 separate outputs.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
thats correct. the cable comes into the house, then into a booster, then into the splitter and out again. one TV downstairs and one upstairs. and the booster does have 2 outputs. so would this sort of thing be ok for what i want to do?

The cable will be fine, the connectors will ok for the TV, but you may need some f connectors to screw onto the splitter. If you are using a single socket booster, I would change that for 2 socket booster if the signal does become too low.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
