To be honest, you have made comments of this vein all through the thread - so here's the other side of the coin; my husband got the second job he applied for (second application, first interview). My son secured an apprenticeship with Honda literally off the street. He also got a seasonal job at Argos last year.
The point I am making is that the situation your husband was in is unique to him as my husband and son's situation were to them. You cannot take your situation and therefore decide there are no jobs. There are jobs. Less than in previous years, granted, but they are still out there. You just have to work a little harder to get one.
Sadly, your attitude to securing employment is prevalent and allows people to declare terminal unemployment on the basis that 'there are no jobs'."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
Thanks for the advice but she has already phoned every vet in the area and asked about a placement but they all say the same they are full or train their own staff and to post a cv on to be kept on record which she has done . there are no other colleges offering animal care courses in the area that have places on the courses.
You don't need to do an animal care level 3 course for entry to a degree in veterinary nursing. Science courses are also appropriate.0 -
As a care worker, I find it annoying when people suggest it as an easy option, or a last resort!
There is already too many in this profession who are just putting in the hours and have little regard for their clients. People who need care deserve better than that!!
I work in care, never said it was an easy option just there are always jobs out there. It is a good place to start, get qualifications and work up as I mentioned.0 -
Couldn't agree more! The following vacancy
"Carer needed for person, must have experience and MUST be experienced in use of equipment including hoists"
Comment from JC advisor re using hoist...."How difficult can that be?"... This to someone who was an unemployed builder
( Not suggesting a former builder couldn't be a good carer...just that it isn't a job that everyone can or or is suited to do, and emphatically NOT without training).
Where I work you don't need experience but they do a lot of training, it's a nursing home for physically disabled. The previous residential home also needed no experience but the agency I worked for did. I find angency workers are more the people you describe, though were I work now there are some lazy, just doing the job people.0
