Diz that looks fabulous, you've done a really good job of it. I bet your pleased with it.
Glad school went OK, only a few weeks before theres another week off. Have you decided on your next project? I wish I had your motivation.0 -
Aww thanks GR. Well I don't know what next to do. I'd like to do something with my bedroom and make it more like a sanctuary. That would mean re-decorating though and to be honest it doesn't really need it. Might do that once I'm in the black with the bank. Hmm long way off then. Ooh I did crochet a hat at the weekend...lol I like it but apart from OH no one else does...I'll post a pic and you can tell me what you think...
and these are the baby hats I did for the Paul OGrady appeal...
I do need to get these sent off.

I love the hat but I am a hat person, have got absolutely loads.
I'd love to do out my bedroom but I've got fitted wardrobes and I know once I pull them down they won't go back the same. Would love to have some built in and put wood floor down in there but it'll probably cost quite a bit and I can't really afford it. To be honest I don't even know if I'm going to stay in my house. It all depends on what boyfriend is going to do. If we're going to stay together and he decides to move to me he may want to live somewhere else.
Last year I stripped all the paint off the stairs, it was painstaking and took absolutely ages. I ended up varnishing it and having the old fashion carpet down the centre with the brass rods. I then finised it off by putting PVC cladding in the hallway. It cost me a fortune but it looks fabulous. I'm a bit like you, I want to do it all myself!0 -
GR I LOVE stairs with the carpet runner and the brass rods!!! We couldn't have this done because the wood on the stairs isn't up to much and it would have been a big job so just got a new carpet. The carpet man thought I was dolally when I said it couldn't be wool, I'm vegan that's why, I told him!! Think he thought I might want to have a nibble on it now and again lol
If I could move it would be a house with mullion windows and a porch with original tiles and a parquet floor...just put two lines on for Wednesday lottery, here's hoping.
I wish OH and I had bought a house together, he lived in this one when he was married before, it didn't last long and his ex laid no claim on the house. Mind you I brought up his two babies at the time, they lived with us. One now has his own house and partner and they have a beautiful baby girl and the other teaches English to foreign students (he's done this in Japan and Poland and worked in America. He's also studying at London Metropolitan University so we're very proud of them. The only added bonus is, the house is paid for in about 3/4 years and it was cheap as chips, ex council house and big. But I think that's why I've never really taken to the house.
What I'm saying in a long way is, a new house, a new beginning for you and your boyfriend.
Crikey I have rambled. Oh I do hope you and boyfriend sort it out. Don't forget my invite if it get's to the alter. I can wear my hat!!!

Hey Diz you'd be the first to know. I run away to get married first time around (couldn't cope with all people looking at me) and would probably do the same again, if he ever asks me to marry him! Early days yet though.
As for the house. Bought it with Ex at a really good price and completely gutted it, it's really big and has lots of ground and even though I'd still live in it if bf was happy with it, if he wasn't happy I would move at the drop of a hat. Saying that the times he's come to stay he does seem quite at home here, will have to wait and see.
I bet your proud of your hubby's children, they've both done you proud. Bf has got 2 daughters and the eldest is only 9 years younger than me. He's 10 yrs older than me and had his girls quite young. To say I'm a bit worried about meeting them is an understatement. I usually get on with people as I'm really easygoing but always find when I'm really trying to impress someone I always say/do the wrong things.0 -
Dizzy the fireplace is lovely. I love the tulips. And the hats. The baby ones took me back to when my twins were born. They were premature and had to stay in hospital for six weeks and they got to wear all sorts of tiny knitted hats and cardigans that had been donated by kind ladies. There were some teeny frilly dresses that some of the nurses liked to dress them up in.
So you're both step-mothers! Me too! My OH is 14 years older than me and has two now grown up children. They are both lovely, but I remember how stressed I got about them when they were younger. I wanted them to like me, but didn't want them to think I was competing with their mum etc etc. It's a hard relationship but GR don't worry, just be yourself. There's bound to be a bit of awkwardness but it will soon pass.
Dizzy congrats on the ebay sales. I've got 4 items finishing tonight - 2 already closed and 2 to go. How do you calculate what the fees will be? I want to leave enough in paypal to cover them.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
You'll be fine when you meet them. Just be yourself. I know what you mean though. Your house sounds gorgeous. Is it pre-war. I love those big semi's.
GR OH is 9 years older than me... we balance each other because he's far more laid back than I am. Now if only he went vegan lol He was a rocker when he was young with hair down his back, bit like Rick Wakeman. Unfortunately he now has it short. He said when he was young he was in the same pub as his dad and someone said to his dad 'look at that idiot over there with his long hair. His dad replied 'that idiot happens to be my son'
Bless his dad, he's not with us anymore and he was so lovely, and the kids still miss him.
Well GR I do hope things work out with your boyfriend, it must be frustrating how things are at the moment.

Frustrating is an understatement. He's driving me bl00dy mad, but I think he's worth it! He better be.....
Oh Sea I do worry about meeting his girls. I get myself so stressed out about some things. As you say I'm not in competition with their mum but I'd like to be their friend.
Yes Diz the house is a pre-war semi. We even have a big stone in the garden with a well underneath it. Apparently it's the old watering hole for the horses that used to live here. Sometimes I love my house, especially when the flowers are out and the sunshine is blazing through the windows and then when something goes wrong that I can't put right I have it.
Oh so we all have the older man - I've got to say he treats me much better than ones my own age, do you find that as well girls?0 -
Hi seaxwyn
if you go into your sellers account you should be able to see what your next invoice should be. Paypal take their fees straight away so the invoice is just ebays fee. Just before you list as well it tells you what the fee is, if you remember to write each one down you can keep a tally of the total yourself. good luck with tonights sales.
Thanks about the fireplace, I only bought the tulips from asda tonight, they were reduced to 94p.
Being a step parent is hard and I'd definately do some things differently than I did but they still get me Mothers day cards and gifts so I guess I wasn't too dreadful...and they turn to us when they need help with anything. That's kids though!
Seaxwyn it must have been a worrying time with your babies. It's awful that feeling of helplessness you get. My eldest DS was in the special care baby unit for two weeks (difficult birth and forceps delivery)and I just cried everyday. But all was fine and he's a strapping lad, and was always such a good baby. My next two deliverys were wonderful, a bit of gas and air with DD who popped out after two pushes and with DS no pain relief at all! I would have loved another daughter but too old now.
Ooh I'm getting a bit broody now.

Oh GR I love the sound of your house. As for OH he definately lets me get away with things. He always brings me a morning cuppa and toast when he comes in from work and does a lot of the housework. Though he doesn't hoover, or polish, or clean the bathroom...hang on I'll have to put that right.
He does iron if we need it, and does the washing and drying. He brews his own beer and wine too...the beers okay as well. He makes sure it's vegan, if I fancy any, by substituting the isinglass with a non animal derivitive.
I actually first went out with him when I was 17, he's a friend of my brothers, and then we got back together after he split from his wife when I was 21 so maybe we were meant to be together. Sounds like that old advert lol.
