What f/b to leave?

I did decide on a neg in the end.
On balance, what tipped it was the fact that no contact came from the seller, no response to my email, no apology, just a line in the dispute console begging for me to not neg them because of a bereavement.
I've also had this excuse from another tardy seller last week too - although this item did arrive yesterday (they have somehow soldiered on and managed to list over 100 items throughout their period of mourning too). They did at least respond to my emails. I haven't left f/b yet for this one, still thinking.
Thanks for all perspectives - it helps!

I sincerely don't understand people who get paid for something and then don't get it sent off as soon as they can.
What do they think people are giving them their money for? Are they a charity?
Have they never been sat in a restaurant waiting for half-an-hour before someone takes their order or brings their food?
The community boards seem to belittle buyers who want their items reasonably quickly and think they should be able to cope with more than a few days' dispatch times, but in reality, buyers hate it, it's not fair to keep a hold of someone's money for a week and only then get round to sending the item, and it's bound to get them into trouble.
I had one person tell me over there the other day that you can't please everyone, but really - you should at least try!
Meanwhile someone I almost negged for this recently has her initial ten DSRs showing and she has a big hole where her dispatch DSR should be and is in the 3s for comms. I didn't neg - I got the item - but she took eight days to send. I would have been happy with "Oops, sorry, I forgot to post your item" - I'm not unreasonable, and that shows honesty and bravery to face up to your responsibility. But...!!!...these kind of cases just take the biscuit. One of my friends is being buried on Monday and although we weren't close (I was close enough to feel sorry for her husband, to be glad she is no longer suffering - it was cancer - and to miss her and think she's never going to poke me on Facebook again or I'm never going to see her at the club we went to, but not to feel an awful lot of grief; sadly her funeral is on my first day of university classes as well which is a PITA), it's pretty offensive for that to be used as an excuse."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

This whole thread has been entirely sympathetic to a buyer who got terrible service from a seller!0 -

In case there's someone reading who thinks buyers should wait weeks for their item because a seller can't be arrised to do it and why should eBay penalise people for being a little bit late sending things off and so on.
Like even some of the regs think on the official forums. Just getting a little teed off."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Luckily I go to uni full-time next week so I will have bigger matters - like the International Court of Human Rights - to think about."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I bought seeds on 23rd Sept, and they've still not arrived, so I messaged the seller and they started going on saying they're going to send out some more for 'the last time' and it's costing them more to send more out than the item's worth... If they don't come by the 10th, I'm getting my refund, one way or another.
Why do Ebay allow such stupid sellers on their site?0 -

And seeds must come soon because of sowing at the right time, right?0
