Thrifty Way Aliases

Options
Hi there Old Stylers!

Just a quick note to say I know there's lots of spring cleaning of the board going on. It would be great if you could keep an eye out for the following threads and avoid merging them. Below is a list of all the threads that appear in Thrifty Ways and have an alias assigned to them (so if you type in the alias it redirects you to that thread). If any threads get merged it means the alias will break and readers of Thrifty Ways won't be able to get to the thread.

Also if anyone notices any of them are broken if you could give me a shout that would be brilliant!

Cheers

Archna

    :)

Don't worry about it. Only Board Guides can merge posts - which is the main point of Archna's request. She's asking us not to merge those threads because then people joining Old Style using the links from the Thrifty Ways book would get an error.

The second part of her request is to let her know if any of the links she has listed don't work already. (I'll be doing a full check myself later this evening).

    So you can relax :)

  • It's a fairly long list to remember not to merge. If I get the chance later, I'll go through them putting a note in the OP to remind us not to merge them, and inform people that those threads are featured in the book.

Amending the OP won't cause problems with the links will it?

No problem, that would be fine.

I was thinking of knocking up a quick graphic like the one for the tips email...

That's a very good idea, Squeaky. I can't do anything so techie. But if you wouldn't mind doing that, I'll go through the list and add it to all the OPs.

    Right ho boss :)

I'll crank up my graphics software tonight. BTW, I did check all the links and posted my findings to MSE Archna, and have asked if we can now unstick it since it's really only of concern to us BG's.

    Great. Thanks boss!:D

Just let me know when you've done the techie stuff and I'll get on with it. I'm doing very little in real life at the moment so should be able to squeeze it in somewhere. :D

I've put a trial message into the first of the links in Archna's post. Take a look - do I need to change anything?

I've not done all the rest yet because I'm just checking with the team in case me fiddling with the book graphics has any copyright implications. Once we get the go ahead it's just a matter of copying and pasting that into all the others.
