Is it possible to find a studio/ one bedroom apartment in one of the new developments for less than £400 pcm in city centre Leeds? DS has a new job in Leeds and is looking for a place. Doesn't need to be big. Any suggestions welcome.

Right move seems to throw up a few which would look to fit that criteria.

Within walking distance of the city centre but also close to the rougher areas estates to the east. Very close to the Playhouse and Bus Station. probably fine as long as you do not go wandering until getting local knowledge.

Do not know the this area but I would be careful about LS11 except for very close to the river (ans doubt if you would get much for that price there)

Right in the poshest part of the "City" but very compact. More or less overlooks the rail station approaches.
A bit more but very central

Thanks. Anything over £400 will be too much I think.0 -
Plenty of empty flats in the area known as Ghost town, it is a huge white elephant development called Clarence Dock and they are very walking distance of town centre and a tesco's local on the door step.
Do a google, have heard of £320 a month deals just to fill the flats.
the good thing is the area is surrounded by very little in the way of antisocial elements that inhabit Leeds outskirts.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I would be glad for a link to any good Clarence dock deals as I can't seem to find any this cheap.0 -

negoitiate?
I bet most just over £400 would take £390 or less.
More than 80 percent of properties buit in Leeds area were single bed or studio apartment in the decade prior to the crash. There are thousands looking for tenants.
There are actually 3 and 4 bed houses in less desirable areas for that price and one bed flats within a mile of the centre at £250. South of the river is cheaper as it is further from the universities and colleges. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I've got some appointments set up now so will certainly try haggling, although there doesn't seem to be a glut on the market at the lower price of around £400. He wants to be city centre to avoid travel costs and does not particularly want student digs. Which areas can you suggest, not too far out which are relatively 'safe' areas?0

There's a ton of flats in cc Leeds as someone's already said it's like a Ghost Town around there so do haggle and play the rentals off each other.
There's plenty of terraced houses on Kirstall Road opposite the cinema complex. Itis pretty close to the city centre and it's not quite student dig land. Saying that not entirelly sure it's a great area0
