Old Style Daily Thread for Tuesday 4th October 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 4th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
A Very Early Good Morning:eek::eek::eek:
I have awake since 1.30 am when eldest DS got in from work. He does try to be quiet but is one of those stocky rugby players so it doesn't come easily:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway I have moved the washing on and hung the washing outside. What a beautiful and still night and so warm. It was very tranquil and I sat out there and breathed in the night air. Reminded me of the night DD was born x
Despite being tired yesterday, I did well and caught up with my jobs (such as they are) and we baked Mooloo's DGD birthday cakes. I feel so excited as she is 4 today and has a very special place in our hearts:T:T:T
Well I think another cup of tea is in order. Im thinking of trying Horlick again as Im not sure tea is a good thing in the middle of the night:eek::eek::eek:
NPM - I used the cat's deodorising stain remover which I got from Pets at H0me. It worked brilliantly on a similar spillage a few years ago.
Redruby - hugs to you. In your heart you know you have done the right thing. Your mum will come round x Have you tried Age Concern for advice regarding benefits?
I will be back later to catch up on all your news.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Molly and all who follow,
It is so dark this morning and a lot colder, I think that autumn has returned.
DD2 is off on a school trip this morning so I have to get her to school for 7 30 and then get myself to work afterwards, thankfully DD1 and DS will get themselves to school later.
Got a busy day at work today and then I am off to my ballet lesson this evening, looking forward to that.
Hugs to Redruby, NPM and Lou.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)
And it is also my birthday!:D0 -

Morning all, before and after!
Not sure how today's going to turn out. I've got the crampy tummy from h*ll so I'd rather not go out but my cleaner's meant to be coming so I either have to cancel her (which I don't want to do) and stay in or go out (which I don't want to do) and let her come. Bring on the menopause, I say!
One of the boys' scratching posts died yesterday so there was some furniture moving till we got a solution sorted out. 'Santa' is going to bring them a new activity centre which they can have as soon as it arrives (it's been ordered) but we're not sure when it will be delivered.
I finished a baby blanket/shawl yesterday (lovely lilac colour) and started off a white one for SANDS. The pattern's so plain it's easy and soothing to knit.
There are rumours of snow-in-October in Glasgow so I'm considering getting in an extra order of groceries. I'm not due to place an order till the 15th but I don't want to be in the same position as the first snow last year. I'd placed an order, watched the snow, waited for the order to come and eventually phoned Mr S to see what was happening only to be told it was cancelled but they hadn't bothered to tell me. By this time my shelves were bare and so were those of the local shops ... Yes, I think I will put in a 'spare' order now - it's not as though it will go to waste and the extra expense now will catch itself up as I won't need an order at some point in the future if I've a stock of food in already. Think I also need to pop over to 'Preparing for Winter', don't I?
Hope everyone has a profitable, OS day (with no snow!)Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning all
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten, fish fed, I'm taking LO shepherds pie for my lunch. DW has been loaded but isn't full enough to set going,WM has been on, finished & started with another load, someone from work gave me 2 dustbin bags full of soft toys, I'm working my way through washing them all & hanging them on the line.
Pork chop for hubby for tea, not sure what I'll have, I don't eat pork.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all
Weather seems a bit more normal today, grey with a cool breeze. Have got the windows open though as I can't stand a stuffy house. Had chicken tikka and rice for tea last night and it was delish. Was awake at 4am thinking about which home insurance to buy. Really need to get a life!
Happy Birthday MOORHEN .
RR hope things get sorted with your Mum, hugs hun
Hugs today to anyone else who needs one.
Plan today to go to the gym first thing, then hairdressers later. Then cleaning and sorting paperwork. THink tea will be soup, probably leek and potatoe as I've got leeks that need using up. Then we're off to an open evening at a local secondary school. Can't believe we've got to that stage.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Overcast and cooler here today. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy - had dinner a little later than usual as DH and one of our friends collected some paving slabs we've been given after work. Boys had rugby practice after school and DS1 has rugby training tonight, so dinner tonight will be quickies.
Work was reasonably busy yesterday but am at the other office today so depending on staffing levels could be busy or a bit quieter - will have to wait and see! Have let menu planning and just keeping on top of everything slip a bit, so need to get back on track - hoping now we have several weekends at home this will improve.
Have a great day everyone, hugs to those that need/want them, take care.

Morning all!
Happy Birthday Moorhen, have a lovely day!
I'm startin work at 10 today, so will walk pup after i've dropped OH off. The weather looks grey today, so think summer really has ended here.
Pup had some bad dreams last night, he was sleep barking/howling and in such a deep sleep we couldnt wake him up (when he did, he insisted on spending the rest of the night in between OH and I on the bed!) He's going to be in a clingy mood today, i can tell!
Got some chicken out the freezer for stir fry dinner, i don't think i'm following my meal plan at all! OH's lunch and flask are ready, I've just got to sort something out for me.
Could do with doing another clothes wash, bit might hold off till whats out is dry first.
Living room is today's focus, with a once over of the bathroom too, to keep what i did yesterday looking lovely.
Have a lovely day all
