Where to rent a convertible
Comments

The question the op posed should be rephrased ...
Is it fair to lose A CHILD, because less than 7% of all road accidents occur where alcohol is statistically recorded as having been taken?
Perhaps the op could take time out from his convertible hunt to answer ...
The comments have annoyed me so much that I won't be commenting any further ... I rarely, if ever, on this forum get involved in commenting on posts like this. This time I just felt I had to.0 -

Then got stopped by those nice men of the psni who pulled in behind me and requested to know why my lights weren't on fully at the front (this was despite being on the malone road for less than 6 seconds). Is it fair to lose a driving license, be fined, be unable to drive, get a criminal record, pay raised insurance costs etc because less than 7% of all road accidents occur where alcohol is statistically recorded as having been taken?
Of course it isn't, any more so than it would be if similar action were taken against those caught/seen smoking, talking on a phone, listening to a radio, chatting to their children etc (all concentration-draining factors) which statistically are more likely to cause an accident or death.
Over the limit on 2 pints? 2 pints of what? Vodka!! You shoudn't even be allowed a ride a push bike with a DRUNK DRIVING conviction let alone rent out a high performace car. Moron.0 -

So you were driving over the limit without headlights on (I'm assuming this was at night) . Ever think that combination is actually dangerous? Are you saying that somehow the drink driving laws shouldn't apply to you?
You knew the risks. You got caught. You're now complaining that it's not fair. Tough.0 -
Yes
That is all.
I agree with you but I extend this to every time someone is fined for speeding, running a red light, failing to indicate etc. These are the laws of the road and we all know them. Yet many people will scream and shout as if someone stole their chocolates if they actually get a penalty.
If we are to be high and mighty, we have to accept the full extent of the law.Always overestimating...0 -
I agree, my post was pulled for what I reckon was to call this clown, a clown, yet he/she can condone drink driving, plus be rude to other forum users and, nothing is done, about time this clown posts are monitored prior to allowing full forum view!!

Less than 7% where alcohol is detected as having been taken - not proven as the deciding or aggravating factor.
People die. There are 7 billion of us. Get over it and stop dramatising.:beer:0 -
As for the law, is that the same law that one year enables a person to drink to their hearts content then next year bans it completely? Is that the same law that forbids people from shooting and blowing one another up then the next year allows the perpetrators of such to sit in government and decide security issues?
There is only one governing law and that is expediency. Those who know this win; those who don't are losers in life.0 -

Mate, you were caught driving about in the dark with no lights on and over the limit.
I think you need to take your medicine on this one and accept you're in the wrong.0 -

I'm going to presume that you are a young, illogical male for the purposes of the following. Oh, actually reading the OP you are a young male so how good am I so far?
So, God forbid you meet someone as equally low in the gene pool and manage to produce an offspring, what exactly should we say to you should your offspring be killed by a drunk driver. The law doesn't differentiate between 1 pint and 10 pints, over the limit is drunk driving, end of.
I'd hazard a guess that if your child were killed by a moron driving with no headlights on whilst on a road trip for some munchies, you'd want the book thrown at that driver. I have the misfortune of being related to someone convicted of drink driving. He by the grace of god was caught before he harmed anyone. I'd have been grateful had he won a Darwin Award but if he'd taken the life of someone because he fancied a wee drive whilst intoxicated I'd have killed him myself.highrisklowreturn wrote: »It's only a "conviction" if one believes in / adheres to legal codes made east of Ireland.:money:
So you are one of those individuals then who seems to think that UK laws need not apply in Northern Ireland. Then do us all a favour and move 'down South' and see if their drink driving laws are any more lenient that those of the UK.0
