What about if I rent it and then you use it for the day

Deal. I'll drive you round in it, but only if you look like the bloke in your profile pic.

How about you get one of your neighbours to "borrow" one...

Seriously though, NI being as it is may well mean there is no legal way of achieving what you want. Even if you bought one you may very well find it impossible to insure.

I know it's ridiculous. The costs to insure for me would be in the stratosphere. Prob end up driving a micra for the next 10 years to even get near a reasonable insurance quote.

It's not ridiculous, it's just what happens when you've got 10 points and a drink-driving conviction. The insurance company doesn't know if you've learnt your lesson, so it hikes up the rate as there's a good chance you may have an accident in the future.

    Sounds fair to me.
  • It doesn't to me, I never had an accident or any other infraction during my driving days but took two pints and drove to a kebab shop. Then got stopped by those nice men of the psni who pulled in behind me and requested to know why my lights weren't on fully at the front (this was despite being on the malone road for less than 6 seconds). Is it fair to lose a driving license, be fined, be unable to drive, get a criminal record, pay raised insurance costs etc because less than 7% of all road accidents occur where alcohol is statistically recorded as having been taken?

Of course it isn't, any more so than it would be if similar action were taken against those caught/seen smoking, talking on a phone, listening to a radio, chatting to their children etc (all concentration-draining factors) which statistically are more likely to cause an accident or death.

...and of those 7 percent of all road accidents there are fatalities, some children. I have read some questionable comments on this forum but your comments just make me actually feel sick.

I agree, my post was pulled for what I reckon was to call this clown, a clown, yet he/she can condone drink driving, plus be rude to other forum users and, nothing is done, about time this clown posts are monitored prior to allowing full forum view!!
