Well done OP for making the effort to learn the language whilst you're living up here. Will be with you for life once you learn. bleepandbooster - now I know there's at least two us here from Caernarfon!

    Make that 3!

And i'd also like to say well done to the OP for trying your hand at Welsh. It's admirable and I'm sure you'll get a lot of respect from Welsh speakers for trying to learn our language while your here.

ooooh Cofi Welsh is a different kettle of fish! There should be a book on it! Would be fun & include a lot of swearing loL! I'm also near Caernarfon!

To the OP - have you seen the range of house stuff/card from Cardiau Cofi? Have a look (if you're not easily offended!) I love them!
  • The cards etc are brill, have you seen Alf cofi drwg on youtube ???

  • Assuming you are at Bangor go and have a look what the dept of Lifelong Learning there offer.
(I'm a part time research student in the Welsh Dept at Bangor, and as someone's counting Cofis I work in C'fon, though that doesn't really count does it...)
    Pob hwyl!

Learn Welsh with SaySomething in Welsh web site. Brilliant! It concentrates on spoken Welsh so is very useful.
    First part is FREE!

try saysomethinginwelsh.com theres free tutorials on there and its easy to learn

I second this, the site is a great free resource - my parents in law, both non-Welsh speakers started using it to learn Welsh so that they could speak to my son - they started with it about 18 months ago and I am amazed at how much they have picked up and best of all, they can use it everyday because it's really practical stuff rather than lots of emphasis on learning verbs, mutations etc.

Helo sut mae mynd ? .......... ( Hello how is it going ? ) Just google "Learn Welsh BBC" and you can start. But the Wlpan course is your best bet and then just get out there and try it out in the shops/pubs etc. I'm sure you will also make friends at uni who are local and will teach a little.

If you want to learn Caernarfon Welsh or Cofi Welsh as it is known, have a look on youtube for "Alf cofi drwg" !!!!!!!!!! Be warned alot of swearing !!!!!!!

    Cofion (Regards)
