Hence the reason gambling is illigal in many countries accross the world. And gambling does kill people, if it wasn't for my two young girls I certainly wouldn't be here today./
Heroin can directly kill someone taking it once.
A single bet, unless someone is foolish enough to stake all their money, their house, clothing,... on a single bet won't kill anyone.

I am going to stop my responses now in regards to opinions on wether gambling is right or wrong if anybody has anything to discuss about the rules set out by the gambling commission then I will answer that.

On a side note, never make a judgement on somebody until you have walked a mile in their shoes.
  • I think speaking to other people with bi-polar,face to face would be a big help to you. I don't suppose any of us can guess what you have been through.

May I reffer you to the legislation set out by the gambling commision I linked earlier. You will find that although ambiguos they say that what I have suggested should be in force. The contention here is that at no point are levels of what is acceptable or not is ever mentioned and thus because of this, except in the very of extremest circumstances they are rules that can never be enforced because of the lack of difinitive limits.

This all ends up like we are here that one person thinks the level is accptable wheras the other does not. Who's to a decide, well a judge ultimately if the complaint is pushed far enough down the line.

I am aware of the Code of Practice and the Gambling Act. I am not aware of any bookmaker (and I know of most through matched betting) that does not comply with the CoP.

How do you suggest that this would come under the consideration of a judge? On what grounds would you bring a case? You have already said that you do not want your money back.

Thats why it should not be legal at all, there is no way to protect the vulnerable who need protecting most so in which case it should just be outlawed as it is in many countries accross the world.
Would you advocate a total alcohol ban too, for the same reasons?

How would you prevent dodgy bookies springing up to take the money of compulsive gamblers?

thanks duckeggblue, I have been appreciative of your questions, you have asked relevant non leading questions in order to try and fully understand what has been going on. The rest have tried to beat me with the freedom of choice stick and of course the vendors have no responsibility to my gambling habbits, it is all my own sole responsibility.

No, gambling would not have killed you, you would have killed yourself. There is a big difference between taking a drug to give you a high which then kills you, and you choosing to take your own life.

Yes and I am a heavy dribker. I would not like it at first but I bet I would look back in 10 years and say how much of my life was wasted due to drink.

But you are choosing to take the drug, much like I had coosen to gamble. I do not see the difference.
