I downloaded BT fon, but it seems to ask for a login and password, and I don't have one as I'm not a BT broadband customer.0

As mentioned above, what happens if you enter your O2 or orange email address?
I don't know if that would work or not, but there is no harm in trying is there?0 -
I tried that, no joy I'm afraid, I have been on the o2 forums though and it does seem to be a common problem, thanks for your help anyway.0

From the O2 website
" Out and about: With many of our current tariffs, you get free access to over 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots from The Cloud and BT Openzone. You'll find them in lots of public places, like airports and most Starbucks branches. To connect, tap 'The Cloud' or 'BT Openzone' when they appear in your Wi-Fi networks list. You'll need to enter your mobile phone number when it asks you to, but only the first time you use it."0 -
Yep, that's what they say, unfortunately it's not the case, once you enter your number, nothing happens. like I said before, o2 advised me today that only two android phones are supported as yet, and the top of the range sensation is not one of them.
On looking through the o2 forums, this has been going on for some time, the advisor offered me an exchange for a desire on the same tarrif as that is supported, but I said no as it's an older model phone.
Thanks again.0 -
Hi sconieroany - you seem to have exactly the same issues and problems with BT OZ as me.
I have been told repeatedly (by O2 "Gurus") that the BT OZ login boxes should *both* be populated with your mobile # - this doesn't work for me - does this work for anyone else?
Those who can get access to BT OZ to work are you logging in via the O2 drop down box ?
The reason most people aren't complaining is that they don't understand that BT OZ connection isn't working - either they are using their mobile data allowance (data access - GPRS) or not bothering to connect to OZ.
What happens to users that (like me) who have O2 home BB? I thought the idea was that O2 BB customers would be able to use BT OZ free as O2 had no wi-fi network of its own. If this is true & BB users can connect free to BT OZ how is this done?

I tried the BT Fon app yesterday at work, no joy, page still hangs and my mobile does not populate a login or password on the openzone site, bloody shambles, as you say above, I can only imagine that other sensation owners and owners of other mobiles apart from the two supported models, are using their allowance up instead of wifi.
Not impressed with o2's response.0 -
Thanks sconieroany again,
I tried the BT Fon app and found it useless..... but I may have got BTOZ to work for the first time today!
We had another heated debate with O2 Customer Services the other day and they promised to do something... yet again.
However, something has changed. When I went to connect via Starbucks using the BTOZ wireless SSID on loading the browser I got **for the first time ever** a different screen. This one had the BTOZ logo and below 3 other square access buttons, the left one being O2!!!!
When I clicked that it asked for my mobile # and then seemed to be doing a 1st time registration - which it said would take up to 2 minutes. It did seem to hang at that point and subsequent tires to access using BTOZ resulted in the default Starbucks screen. Oh hum.
But a short while later when I connected at a different SBs it connected directly to the web! Well, well, well.
Either O2 had finally done something at their end or its because I was using the Dolphin browser and not the stock Android one. What's the difference? I set the Dolphine browser User Agent setting to iPhone - could that be the answer?
I'm not entirely hopeful access to BTOZ will keep working, I'll post back when I next try to connect using it.

Well it worked again today at Starbucks - its a pity that the access doesn't extend to BT FON or BT OZ-H...
