The above is correct assuming Sky have not LLU'd your exchange.

Samknows should list Sky/Easynet as an LLU operator if they have.

Sky have their own optical network that they run independently of BT (Ipsaris), however this is not available at small exchanges.

On samknows it does say "Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU".

Will this impact on quality and speed?

Sky LLU is like every other supplier an 'up to' x Mbps, in Skys case thats 20Mbps, though no-one ever achieves that speed, it depends on the distance from the exchange and the quality of your line.
Sky don't throttle your speed at peak times like BT.

Have you got a telephone line or is your current broadband over cable?

current broadband is over cable with virgin media so using optical fibre so obviously will be much faster than with sky but speed is not as important to me as it once was. also as i said earlier my router is downstairs and a fair distance away as i only have 1 cable connection point in the house which undoubtedly kills much of the speed edge, whereas with sky i have a telephone socket right next to my computer. i think i will end up losing only 10-20% in speed.

Its all down to your distance from the exchange for your ADSL speed, I guess you have put your phone number into Skys' checker, or Samknows and got an estimate.

I did a Sam knows check and it says Sky/Easynet, so is that better?
