How about seeing it the other way round? Why is it OK for seller to break/bend eBay rules but not for buyers to do the same?

Do what ever your principles tell you to do. Or are they only fired up when someone tries to overcharge you a quid?
There are some misguided sellers on ebay, but they are probably occasional private ones. Is it worth slaughtering someone's future selling ability for £1? Does the whole buying community of ebay need protecting against this shark?
Everyone here seems to think so. Personally, I thought this was still a tolerant society in the main. But it is a free one, so make your choice. Please leave principles out of it though, I aint got a bucket handy.
Do you only get fired up to exaggerate, be pedantic,a contrarian or all three?

Love to hear his stand on a buyer complaining about being charged a fiver for postage, then wanting to leave a neg when there was only a couple of quid for the postage.

No doubt on his soapbox saying that was the price agreed, and what's it matter so long as the overall price was acceptable.

Sorry, but I'm in the "hang 'em high" camp. Seller went about this all wrong. He should've added the extra £1 to the price of the coat, or else if he didn't realise until after the auction, then he could've asked politely if the buyer would've considered paying the extra rather than just sending the invoices in the way he did. It would be a neg from me.

If someone is being slaughtered over a pound, then they should know well enough for next time that it is unethical to charge that extra pound. It's their responsibility to look after their own future.

Sorry, Mac, if their future is important to them they should do it by the book. Nicking a pack of crisps from a garage kiosk could slaughter my future if I get caught and a criminal record, so I don't do it.

Yep, would be a neg from me too
  • If I were you, I would not pay and suggest a cheaper option, such as collect+ or interparcel, or would just neg

I listed a coat, and the maximum p and p I could put was £4, I know it will cost me more than that to post it.. I am dreading it.. But I cant do nothing about it now as it already states in my listing.... think it's pathetic eBay near enough chooses what to charge p and p..

Then you should either find a cheaper delivery service or increase your reserve by the extra it will cost you.

Or start it at postage costs plus the minimum amount you will accept for it and offer free postage.
