I've just read about this they are raccoon dogs and the pictures are horrific, this is barbaric and this should be stopped. There will no doubt be some smart assed comments approving this kind of treatment on these beautiful animals.
OMG OMG OMG!!!!, I feel physically sick seeing that article, couldnt click on it to read further... those poor poor dogs absolutely horrific. I had no idea that dogs would be used and skinned alive to maybe make boots. I cant comment further as i could not carry on reading so dont know full story. Even if not used for boots the act of skinning anything alive.....oh this angers and upsets me very much. :(:(

Received mine today. I'm glad I ordered one size smalle (only because my size was out of stock) as the fit really well. Very pleased.

Was really looking forward to getting my boots when i got home today as tracking said parcel had been left in "secure location". got home and hunted high and low to find nothing. Rang DP's who advised notes said courier had "thrown over locked gate" - not sure who's gate he threw them over but it wasnt mine - so disappointed, DP's looking into but just want me boots.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

    That is awful!!

I am all for using the pelts of animals that are slaughtered for meat as a life should be valued highly enough not to waste any valuable resource but to kill just for the fur....
Well that behaviour is simply worse than any animal's behaviour!

    Oh no. I clicked!

I couldn't turn the screen off quick enough!!!! (I am very happy that I bought my new slippers from primark today which are from entirely manmade materials. I looked on this thread to see if I had missed a bargain)

How could anyone even perform such a barbaric act? How can they live with such first hand suffering before them done at their own hands...

    That is truly upsetting :(

I only saw the picture and a few sentences and that made me heave, cant get this out my mind its really upset me. Every time I see a pair of ugg boots now even if they werent made from the poor dogs hide, that image will be at the forefront of my mind. Some very very cruel people. :(

I was the same. I read the comment of how they are left writhing in agony for 3 hours and the mental picture was even so much worse. I couldn't get rid of that page fast enough. I'm going bed now and I could just cry and cry thinking of the scale of that suffering. I will NEVER buy cheap fur lined boots now. I love a bargain but not when the real price is so very bad.

I saw this article today in the sun paper and have posted it over on the discussion board to raise awareness as i had no idea it was so horrific in the name of fashion. Lets hope something happens now.

I too cannot stop thinking about those poor animals, we all know animals are used as by products but want them humanely treated. :(
  • I haven't clicked on the link and really don't want to so can I just ask - is the article saying that these animals are treated so badly specifically for the purpose of making Ugg style boots or cheap imported products generally?
