Don't forget that you'll need to switch over very gradually from what pup's already eating, so make sure you have some of that in the house!0

Not amazing foods, but on a budget, you wont get better.
They've also recently brought out the Turkey & Rice ..
The nutritional content actually comes out pretty well when you compare it to a lot of other "branded" foods eg
Skinners:
Whole rice (40%), duck meat meal (20%), naked oats, peas, whole linseed, sunflower oil, beet pulp, vitamins and minerals.
Burns:
Brown Rice (Min 63%), Chicken Meal (Min 20%), Oats, Peas, Chicken Oil, Sunflower Oil, Seaweed, Minerals & VitaminsGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

Full agreement with previous posters. My dog's also on Skinner's (on the Working 23 variety). Priced between £15-17 for a huge bag. She's a fully grown Staffy-Whippet cross, and the bag lasts nearly 2 months. It's pretty good for dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies too, as there's none of the filler rubbish in there.
Much cheaper to feed than the cats!0 -
My pup was on T*sco puppy before I bought him - he's now on Skinner's Field & Trial Puppy and is wolfing it down. Coat is much improved and he's in every way a normal, happy, well developed puppy. I mix it with hot water so it's like lumpy porridge. No runny poos or any other digestive probs - I highly recommend it."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0

Myrtle, I hate to tell you this if you're not aware:o, but the Working 23 does contain a lot of cereals & gluten (which is what causes a lot of problems in dogs with sensitive tums) and is not hypoallergenic.
As whatwouludo says, the only adult ones that are hypoallergenic / cereal & gluten free are the Duck & Rice, Salmon & Rice - and now the Turkey & Rice (as well as the puppy one).Where do you all buy yours ?
The pet shop in the next town to me sells it so I usually get there (£22.99), however, I have just bought 2 x 15kg bags on Medicanimal for £36.
But ..... a 15kg bag is going to last you a fairly long time with a wee mite that size:D.
Have a trawl around as quite a few places sell it - Medicanimal, Seapets, Amazon to name a few - and the prices vary so one will be cheaper one week and another retailer the next. HTHGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thanks rising from the ashes - I hadn't realised that. Lazy me assumed that all the Skinners foods were much the same! It was Skinners themselves that recommended that particular type for my mutt. I've just bought a new bag too! I guess I'll be switching when she's gotten through this lot.
Even so, she's got a lovely healthy coat and digestion, so it's probably still better than most of the rubbish in the Supermarket.
Mummyof5 - you can get them in Mole Valley, and some local pet stores. If you call/email Skinners they'll tell you where stocks it near to you.0 -
Phew! I was a bit worried and wondered if I should say anything....:o
It will def be better than pretty much anything that's sold in a supermarket but for the extra couple £s, IMHO it's worth going for the hypoallergenic one.
It would be easier if Skinners called it something different to separate it out from the rest of the Field & Trial range (I also presumed the whole range was hypoallergenic when I first looked) but I guess it may partly due to it being their working dog food so it's all in together.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Always better to know, and there's always something new to learn - so I'm glad you said.
Thankfully her staffy stomach tends to be happy with just about anything - not sensitive at all. But I'll definitely be switching over to the best food possible.
