I spotted cherry stone "wheat" bags in home and bargains yesterday for anyone wanting to avoid lavender wheat bags. Think they were £2-3

Can I ask for advice regarding double glazing film? I had a look in Wilkinsons, they have it but it seems to come with double sided tape to stick it to the window. Do you have to use the tape? I'm renting in a conservation zone and really don't want to risk putting tape on the windows. The landlord would kill me.

Could I just dampen the film to get it to stick and then blow dry it on? Is there any risk of damage to the windows? Thanks

I'm pretty sure there needs to be a gap between the film and the glass. Think it is the trapped air that helps with the heat loss. Could you just sand and repaint the windows in the spring? I would speak to your ll about it.

You need to use the tape to stick the film around the frame to create a double glazed effect.
I suggest you try bubble wrap; spray water on the glass and the bubble wrap sticks to that and comes off when needed without damaging any paintwork etc.

May I suggest you look at tension poles with cheap fleeces attached. It wont leave any marks, you can take them with you when you leave and will add a useful extra layer between the window and curtains or blinds.

Have a look at Morrison's garage if you have one, mine is selling 10kg bags for 98p- they have been doing so for about 5 weeks now, and still have lots left. Will depend on if they have any I presume left from last year.

Could I ask a question about electric blankets?

Are they all for underneath you at night? I want one as I want to have one over/around me when I'm on the settee in the evening so I don't turn the heating on. I've found some on ebay but they are mostly 'under' blankets.

Would this be suitable for what I want it for?

    Thanks in advance :)

You can get overblankets, I have seen them just cannot think where, will have a look around.

What to look out for in sales or on offer are heated throws. They are very expensive but I know we managed to pick one up for MIL in a sale for about a third of the price. The great thing about them is you can have them over or under you, but very dear.

Fleeces are incredibly warm when covering you on the settee, well a couple will be lovely and snug.

I was lucky and picked up a real Slanket for £5 last year in a cs brand new never opened and its so thick and warm and the sleeves mean no coldness when you want to reach for something.

Hi, as i understand it electric blankets have to kinda lie flat to be safe, so using one on the settee might fracture the filaments and not so safe. i'm sure there was a post about them from someone who knew more about them than me, Anyone from the fire service out there ??? they know these things !!
