well thanks to lovely people on here my door curtains are looking fab and more importantly they're keeping the cold out a lot better!
Im keeping all the doors closed too and that will hopefully help as its a lot colder upstairs than it is downstairs here for some reason
Ive checked all the radiators and windows and they're all fine so goodness knows!0 -

not really as most of the linen below is bulky stuff and too big for the shelves etc - was actually in a really big storage box, but as there was so much linen i couldn't close the lid
never mind - i have taken the wine out for now (if i can't store it i'll just have to drink it :rotfl:)
the worst hit linen (which now stinks) will have to be washed again - but i am hoping that the stuff below might be ok with a bit of an airing
i am more annoyed about my uber high tog winter quilt - as that was right on the top of the pile - and it is a challenge to wash and dry it in a day, especially at this time of year (but i might try in the next day or two if no rain forecast)
hay-hum - live and learnsaving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk
made loads last year :beer:0 -

when i was doing some clearing up a week or so ago - i found half a dozen filled books of stamps :rotfl:
does anywhere still take them :rotfl:saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk

So.... After my earlier post, I emailed them and asked about my "Winter Car Kit" order. Got a very polite reply, with an apology for the delay. Seems a lot of us placed orders and they're out of stock but will be getting in new stock soon. My order will be fulfilled on 15th November apparently. (We'll see.)
Wonder if they realised the power of MSE...."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

Only a tenuous connection with the Preparing site but I'm so excited I have to share my find. (I'm easily pleased; I think I'll change my name to Pollyanna.)
I was preparing to bake a batch of Apple-y muffins (with cinnamon icing) and thinking what a pain to have to remove all my other baking things, sheets, cupcake- and YPud-tins first. My mother's oven had a drawer underneath for all this clutter. Mine just has a fixed blank plinth. I touched it and, oops! it came away in my hand. There isn't a drawer under there; just a shelf space filled with dust and copbwebs but . . .
Thinks . . .
While I was in my reverie a recycle-bin-bound cardboard box hove into view. I tried it in place and - I couldn't believe it - it's exactly the right width and only 1" too tall. (Soon fix that.) Not only that; it's exactly the right size to hold everything except my biggest cake tin.
And there's no problem with re-fixing the plinth. I shall just glue it to the box and - lo! - a drawer.
I have my Christmas Do on 24th so this year I'll have a tidy kitchen as well.
I am so jammy ! ! !0 -

Plinth drawers are wonderful - IKEA used to sell them. With a minimum kitchen on one wall, one takes all the baking trays, and I must sort the others; one has a stash of various packets of clothes and gloves from my mother's house but that is getting smaller at last.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Just a thought, has everyone stocked up with their fleecy knickers? Only someone said the other day "winter draws on" and it got me thinking
:D.
