99p for 10 in bnm they are in my bathroom holding a shower curtain and voile looks good too 14yrold did it
they will also hold a single quilt up at doorway cozy and warm asi don't like door to kitchen closed hth

Now a single quilt is a great idea too! Probably lighter and just as warm as a couple of layers of heavy material. I have one in the closet. Stick an old cover on it, and sorted! Saves me doing lots of hand sewing too as I don't have a sewing machine at the mo.
Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

D's - I actually have very old oak floors but as I dont have central heating just *Steve* the multi fuel burner, I thought it better to have carpet than to restore the floors. But I cannot wait to snuggle my feet :D, My only problem then will be to stop FK from clawing it to pieces!!!

We've sanded our original floorboards in all bedrooms, bathroom, lounge and will soon be doing the dining room. We don't find them cold at all but then we did fill all gaps before sanding them. Wonder if that's why some find them cold.

Today we have bubblewrapped the large balcony doors in our bedroom and I can already feel a difference in that the chilly draft has stopped so when it is really cold and windy it will be very effective:T:T:T We also rejigged the digital thermostat so that the heating is more responsive. I have been getting cold during the day (at home due to disability) and despite hotties and my heat pad / blanket Im still feeling it.

Today we also bought extra bird feeders for the back garden and we already have lots of seed and nuts. We also made another batch of soup - corn chowder so well stocked in the freezer.

Tomorrow we are changing the bed and putting on the flannelette sheets and warmer duvets as I have been getting quite cold at night. Feel like I am ready to do battle with the elements:j:j:j
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I have just washed and re-proofed some waterproof tops ... They are currently drying on the line.

Don't forget that if you're making hot water bottles, you should fill the kettle well in advance so that you're boiling from room temperature rather than the temperature of the rising main...

I find laminate really cold, but not real floorboards, and they don't bounce the noise around as much as laminate
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

I've been meaning to post it for a while... Mind you, I keep forgetting to do it myself :o

My winter prep in the house has been somewhat delayed by the fact that I am having work done in the utility room and having two bedroom ceilings skimmed as well as the hall, stairs and landing... At least, I am if they can sort out the problem with the 60-year old distemper they found under the polyripple... So curtains and blinds are down, and rugs up.

I have ordered two new rugs for the landing today (with cash back ;)) and the landing runner will go in the hall, and the rug on OH's side of the bed (we have painted floorboards). I also splashed out on some of my favourite organic cotton tights as I hate synthetic ones and want something nice and cosy to wear (along with my pink Celtic sheepskin boots, many layers and thermal long fingerless gloves!) when I'm working from home this winter.

Molly - when you say you bubble wrapped the doors do you just mean sticking it onto the glass panels or have you covered the whole door and if you have how did you stick it on please?

Has anyone got an idea for a curtain pole? I have a big UPVC front door with small windows at both sides. The UPVC is high up over the door frame so i wouldn't be able to drill holes and attach hooks for a curtain pole to sit on.

Therefore does anyone know where i can buy an extendable curtain pole, much like a shower curtain pole, which i can put above the door so that i can hang a curtain on? Please bear in mind the curtain will be heavy so i doubt an ordinary shower pole will hold it.

    Thanks for any help
