***UPDATE***Driving while using mobile phone - citation for court

To me, driving whilst using the phone is more dangerous than Drink Driving.
Hope she gets a 12 month ban and a very large fine, as she deserves both."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
I think the whole 'friend' thing is just a cover-up. It`s you who got caught on your phone whilst driving so you`ve cobbled together this ridiculous story0

What exactly am I gaining by making up a story? If I was stupid enough to use a mobile phone whilst driving and get caught I would have paid the fine and taken the points. As it stands, I have not committed any driving offence.
If I was intent on proving this I'm sure I could find details of the court case (assuming they're public records - I wouldn't know for sure!) but I'm not that interested.0 -
Warrant for arrest because she didn't turn upIf she was supposed to go to court and hasn't then a warrant can be issued for her arrest. She will then spend time in the cells until a slot appears for a court appearance.0

rare for a minor motoring offence courts tend to sentence in absence then if fine not paid execute a warrent for arrest then send them in the cells untill a slot opens up. not saying they couldnt opt for warrent right away hammy its just the way ive known the system to be.0 -
OP, bear in mind that this is clearly a Scottish case and what has been advised on these boards tends to relate to English law.0

If she turns up and the reporting officer does not, as often they dont, the officer would not be available to identify the defendant to the court and out goes the case.
However you often have to demand this yourself as the provided court solicitors are about as much use as a bag of *****
Better very, very careful of advice given by this poster. Make sure you verify its accuracy before taking any action. What goes around - comes around0 -

I highly doubt she's going to get a prison sentence...it'll be a fine and points I think although more than happy to put a poll on this thread for people to vote. I'm going to phone the court on Monday and see if they'll tell me what the outcome is...0 -
£100To Op, lvm,
I congratulate you on doing a fine job of fending off all the carp that has been thrown at you on this thread, unfortunatly as you obviously understand, this is the internet and you always get 90% of useless "on my high horse with my crystal ball in my hand" replies and 10% useful. I will be doing neither of those things, I'll just wait for the update on what did happen.
There should be an internet acronym for that type of reply.... OMHHWMCBIMH0
