Trying to sell my car but with no luck!!

Having recently been looking for a similar car, I would say you are a little ambitious, yours has quite a low mileage, assuming the condition is good, I would say about £2,300 would be relaistic (we were looking at '03's for a tad ove £2,000).
I have always found Ebay to Sell as people tend to get carried away, and Autotrader to buy, as prices seem lower on there.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Just in case it helps...
I bought my sister's Clio 1.2 Authentique (51 plate, 99k miles) for £650 after seeing loads of similar models/spec on Gumtree for £1400+, thinking I'd make a killing on it.
No enquiries apart from the obvious fakes offering Paypal payments. Had to keep putting price down and ended up with £800. This was with a brand new MOT, 7 months tax although a bit of rusting/scratches.
Putting "offers welcome" in the title may help. Do you have finance on it? If not, I'd just sell for any price you can get. Or if you're buying a new car, ask for a trade in price - some dealers offering "minimum £2k when you buy selected models" etc.
Good luck - hope you can sell!0 -
I think it's worth £2k tops, as a car for a youngster. Out of all the similar cars - Fiesta, Yaris, Corsa, Polo, Punto it's one that seems to attract just as many male purchasers as female ones, no doubt helped by the sporty 172/182 variants. But 2.7k is well overpriced.
Out of interest, how many electrical probs do you have with it?!0 -
Just wanted to let you all know that I managed to sell it for £2400, put a sign for £2495 in the window so am happpy with the price I got in the end:j
It just goes to show that you can get more if you just wait a little longer, just so glad i didn't part ex it for £1500!!!
Now my next question... I'm interested in these cars: http://www.drivebenfield.com/approved-used-vehicles/results/vehicle-type/cars/make/ford/model/fiesta/minimum-price/9000/maximum-price/10000/fuel-type/petrol/body-type/hatchback/colour/white/engine-size/1-1.3
Realistically how much could the dealer knock off the price, considering they are "recently reduced" and in "clearance"? I was thinking around £9100/£9200 but I'm really not sure. I would be paying in full and not take any finance if that helps.
Thanks again0 -
you might be able to get that off depending on how much they're making on it. Although you'll get a better discount if they think you're taking out finance as they'll make on that; so you could go down the finance route and then hand over cash or go for finance but check there's no early payment penalty.0

That's great news mate - Not least because it proves I was rightDropping it below the magical £2500 got the interest, and it was worth more than £2k because it was an upper range model, leccy windows/remote locking etc do make a difference to a second hand value - if they all work.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Hmm, well not taking finance reduces your bargaining power a bit, simply because these days dealers make more profit from finance deals that they do on the car itself.
You could try offering a straight £9k, on the basis that you could go out and buy a very good BRAND NEW car for less than that - quote this article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/columnists/mike-rutherford/8776784/Mr-Money-Where-to-find-the-bargain-buys.html
Ford also seem to be working at dropping their list prices on new cars http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/columnists/mike-rutherford/8709596/Mr-Money-Ford-finally-focuses-on-price.html .
That might just persuade the dealer to come down and meet you near the £9k mark.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -

Confused why you changed if the Clio was a good little runner.0
