  • Don't pay anything.

Get Which? legal cover and throw the book at them. Starting to rack up bills for your car not being available will push their panic button as well as the threat of legal costs. Their £2000 bill (which includes a hefty slice of profit I might add) will be blown away by the costs they would face if they took you on and lost.

If they prevaricate, off to the small claims you go.

Your finance company should really do this all for you to protect their interest. That is where to start.

I'm obviously hoping that Nissan agree to have them replaced, and i'm even prepared to pay 1/4 of the price, but i'm left wondering what else it going to go wrong and am hunting for a warranty that covers everything!

I hope you have some joy with Nissan, but won't be holding me breath.

I wouldn't waste my money on a warranty either, might as well keep the fire going with tenners.

Assuming the car is still running albiet smoky, i wouldn't give the dealer network another penny of my money if you get no joy from them or pursuing them, i'd get the car to a competent Diesel workshops and let them have a look see what they can do.

If you know any taxi drivers in the area they'll be worth asking for recommendations if you don't know of one yourself.

Might be able to get your own injectors sorted, if indeed it the injectors....i'd want a skilled Diesel experts views after he's had a chance to diagnose properly, the dealer's opinion i'd want a second on anyway.

well. Although not resolved yet, it appears Nissan are prepared to contribute, the Nissan dealer are prepared to contribute, and they are now trying to get the warranty company to pay the balance. If needed I dont mind contributing some too, just want my bloody car back!
  • Is this a Cared 4 approved used car? Should be 12 months min if yes? Do you have your warranty booklet? It will detail all exclusions.

Yesterday afternoon I threatened legal action after they asked me for £900 instead of £2000+. A few rather angry phone calls later (i'm usually a very calm person!), and I agreed on £350, seeing as taking it to court would probably cost me about that, and I just wanted it sorted. So on Friday I pick up my car with 4 brand new injectors - now to find a comprehensive warranty in case anything else fails.

I cant say i remember anything about Cared 4, whats that?

Well done, that's a result. All good advice above but a car off the road is costing you money in other ways so sounds fine to me.

quick update a few days after collecting the car... Its a LOT quieter, and I mean a LOT. When we bought the car the salesman said this was normal diesel noise but now I can see how wrong he was. So far, the car as also used about half the diesel it would of normally, and now i'm using the expensive fuel like V-Power etc for a while to give the engine a good clean.

Thanks to all of those who posted :)

    Mike.
