£2000 repair bill only had car 5 months from dealer.
Options
Bought a used Nissan from a Nissan dealer, which came with 6 months warranty. The car was purchased for £12,000 on HP.
Just 3 weeks in the clutch failed and needed replacing which they did free of charge. Now just 5 months in its belching out black smoke (which was reported after 3 months and booked in, but was unable to get it to them due to circumstances). Now its with them, they have said that ALL FOUR fuel injectors are faulty and its going to cost me £2000 as its not covered under the warranty! They also said they had to replace the fuel filter and air filter - but the car was supposed to of had a service when we bought it and would of thought these were replaced as part of a service?
I'm wondering where I stand with this, as I'm certainly not happy about being slapped with a £2000 bill after 5 months, and can I fight this with their finance company as the car was faulty when purchased? Fuel injectors dont all go wrong at the same time and the noise they described to me as being a sign of faulty injectors - i put down to normal diesel rattle.
Hope someone can offer some advise...

Personally, I'd go back to the finance company as (depending on the agreement) they own the car until you've made the final payment - it's in their interest that the car isnt a bag of spanners...0

I thought Japanese cars were reliable?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

They were until Nissan got into bed with the devil that is Renault and started putting "Ren-oh-no" engines into their vehicles.
OP - Sale of Goods state any faults found within 6 months existed before you purchased the vehicle and should be covered. Prepare for a battle.0 -
Thanks Davey, i'm going to take a closer look at that. I think i read that they have to prove otherwise, but i'm sure 4 fuel injectors dont all happen to go wrong within such a short period of time, and we've only done about 4000miles since we bought it.

Take a look at this link:

We had problems with our car when we bought it, dealer wasn't interested, tried to scaremonger me into him only paying half the repairs, finance company however were brilliant. They didn't hesitate in agreeing to pay for the repairs. I know it will be different finance compay to finance company, but I think this is your best bet.Clean credit file:12 mthsCar loan: FREE! :jTHE PLAN: 1.Pay off debt £8808.42(£3254.45, £1570.32, £2698.33, £0:dance:, £1000, £285.32) 2.Save monthly for Christmas/insurance etc £150 per month 3.Save for emergencies /£1500 4.Save for our B&B £????depends which one takes our fancy0 -
They are trying to re-coup costs of the clutch
4 injectors do not go wrong at once
My guess the EGR valve is gunked up, needs stripping off and washing out in petrol.
take the car to a local garage.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Read the Audi gearbox thread, all the same arguments apply.
Ignore any posters who say that cars go wrong and you can’t expect dealer to repair them so just suck it up, after you have had nearly 4k miles for your £12k etc etc.
There is a good link in post #13 (one of mine) and post #95 is worth a read too although no source is given (apologies to the unmentioned others who also made sensible posts)0 -

Don't.
You've had a diagnosis from the dealer, now get them to repair the diagnosed fault under SOG, use the finance company as they will be able to apply much more pressure to the dealer than you.0 -
quick update, its been escalated to Nissan HQ, expecting an answer Monday, will keep you posted0
