why can i not get the edimax wireless adapter to work on a old pc

    it may be that you can't use windows update because support for non-service pack 3 has stopped. You will probably need to download SP3 on another machine, burn to disk and install it that way. This will give you access to windows update again.

    I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Of course the problem with this, is if it actually is Windows XP 64bit. I doubt that it is, but..

    So, what is it? 32 bit or 64 bit?

    If my other instructions were too complicated...
    Computers running Windows XP

    Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

    If "x64 Edition" is listed under System, you’re running the 64-bit version of Windows XP.

    If you don’t see "x64 Edition" listed under System, you’re running the 32-bit version of Windows XP.
