got it now. when i click into the boot sequence i have 3 options
diskette drive
hard disk drive c
ide cd rom device

Im not good at this........................ Sometimes you assume I now things. Sorry. Your help has been great but sometimes I need to be spoken to as a 5 year old. This can be so frustrating when I dont know. I also appreciate how difficult it is for you to answer questions from people like me. I'll call it a day. Thanks everyone!

Did you look at page 74 on the PDF? If it's too much(it's simple), then go for the IDE caddy. That will enable you to use the hard drive as an external USB drive in order to retrieve your info.

Afterwards, you can either replace it into the machine and run a clean install of XP SP3 or purchase a new blank HDD in order to do the same.

You just have to learn to follow instructions more closely. There was nowhere where I mentioned the Boot Sequence, so I have no idea why you went there.

Have a look at Page 74 of the PDF and carry on.

I did look at page 74 but there is nothing about HDD.
Can you tell me how I determine if my HDD is recognised from the screen interface.
