Attn Plusnet "Market 2" Broadband Customers

Yesterday I stumbled across a piece of information on Plusnet's website..........
On 12th July 2011, their market definitions changed so that pricing for market 2 reflected that of market 3.
Broadband charges are dictated by the type of exchange you are connected to. Previously those connected to "Market 2" exchanges were not able to take advantage of their discounted rates.
Now Plusnet have agreed to treat new "market 2" customers the same as "market 3".
This means that those adopting their "Value" package will be charged £6.49 instead of £12.99 and those adopting the "Extra" package will be charged £11.49 instead of £17.99.
Now the important bit ! This offer is intended for new customers only, but I raised a support question and was told that existing customers could have the new rate if they requested it. And indeed they have already altered my rate and my monthly bill arrived by email today with the new reduced rate - Saving me £72 annually.
So if you are connected to a Market 2 exchange and are paying the full price, you should be able to contact them and ask them to reduce your monthly bill.

How do I tell what 'market' I am. All I know is I pay a stupidly high amount cause I live in the middle of nowhere!
EDIT - ooohhh found it, I am Market 1 ..... I presume that means I dont get it any cheaper??!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Hi Kit - use the tool on the website that I posted above.
If you are in a remote area then I suspect that it will be Market 1 and you will be unable to gain from this, but a quick check on the site in the link above will confirm.0 -
Thank you very much for that Stuart, I am currently £18 a month so this will save me a packet.0

Brilliant! Many thanks for this.
I have been checking for the last year to see if our exchange had gone to Market 3 with no luck.
I actually changed from Value to Extra last month as it was £11.49 instead of the £12.99 Value as I didn't know the definitions had changed. Now just changed online to Value at £6.49!0 -
They automatically put the cost down about then for me. I must have been luckily didn't have to do anything.0

Sadly I am on Market 1 with Plusnet after checking with the above link. I was hoping for a reduction to the £17.99 a month I currently pay.The joys of living rural lol!The right man is the one who seizes the moment.:o0

Another 2 fingered salute to those with no choice. Is it me or is this backwards? Market 1 exchanges should get a discount and Market 2/3 market forces will drive down the price0
-
Thanks OP! I am market 2 so I've contacted them - fingers crossed!0

No change for us as we are "market 1"
Thanks for the info anyway0
