Opinions on black/coloured wedding dresses

I say, go for what you are happy with.
Personally, I will be over 40 when I get married next year and I am just not convinced that a white/ivory wedding dress is going to suit me. I have been thinking about going for something like this instead. (Hope I can post the link!)

That's not a million miles from mine in terms of the sort of shade. I'm 47 and there was no way I wanted to even try going down the pretty strapless route...plus I get a bit bored of them and wanted something different. I'm not going to put a pic of mine up as I don't want OH seeing it but wait a couple of weeks and I'll be boring everyone silly with it :rotfl:0 -
I think if that's what you want then go for it! Coloured dresses can look absolutely stunning, very striking! Personally I'm getting married in white but equally as worried as everyone keeps say 'white is so hard to wear' 'white just washes people out'. The dress I tried on was pearl and I ordered it in white, fingers crossed I like it! Anyway, sidetracked, go with whatever you will feel best in! X0

I'm going to look forward to seeing that.Sounds like we might be wedding twins! I have been lurking but not posting recently as I am struggling to sort things out so I am trying to concentrate on that. We are getting married at Chester Zoo too.
There is absoloutely no way I am wearing strapless and frilly, just not me. :rotfl::eek:0 -
Oh when's your big day? There's at least one other CZ bride on here...nuttymummy next year0

well I'm sadly not having the full thing there...our budget wouldn't run to the evening safari bit so we're having ceremony and full sit down wedding breakfast, then leaving around 5.30 to go elsewhere for an evening party. But the zoo is special for us as we're members and there constantly, and it was the first place his kids and mine all met each other so it just seemed perfect for us0

I had dark red, but then I also ran off and got married in Vegas on Feb 14th. Do what you want to do, it's your day (we had a reception when we got home)0

ellay, that sounds like all the right reasons to be there on such a special day. I am sure that it will be perfect. We love it too and with having a few children coming it seemed like a good venue. You must be getting excited now. :j

Sorry to take this thread off on a tangent but...my dress is the palest ivory ever it might as well be white. I tried on more traditional ivory coloured dresses but they just didn't do anything for me. I prefer white on my skin than ivory, I wear a lot of white - summer dresses, tshirts etc. I can't stand yellow or pastel colours cause they really do wash me out.
My advice - don't worry about it!!

I remember your pics...I thought yours was white! Looked lovely anyway whereas that colour would make me look awful as I'm just too mousey
ETA: Oops sorry I think I'm thinking of somebody else, you're a 2012 bride aren't you?0
