Epson Stylus R200 Photo Printer £25.99 @ Boots

In the Boots store in Yeovil today I saw the HP Photosmart 435 / 7260 camera and printer bundle priced at £27.99. I asked if they had any boxed ones, but the woman said it was the last one, so offered me £5 off. Both the camera and printer were in a display case, so were unmarked and the printer still had the clear plastic bits on it. She packed it all into the original box and confirmed that all the bits were present. Given that I also got 91 clubcard points, this meant that in effect I paid £22.08, which seems like a good deal. When I got back I did a search and I see that someone on Hotdeals picked up this bundle in Leicester for £27.99, so it seems like it's a national offer if you can find it.
They also had the Epson R240 for £39.99, which seems to be quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else.

I just picked up the last 7260 printer off display - no bundle, but it wasn't a bundle deal. It ended up costing me about twenty quid and it's a nice printer. A word of warning to anyone who buys anyone of these, be sure to set the paper slider that can be accessed when you open the top of the printer. I was !!!!ed off that the paper kept printing out at funny angles. Then I read the online manual and found that you have to slide the hidden grey slider just to the edge of the A4 paper and, hey presto, it works brilliantly.0

In the Boots in the Exe Bridges Retail Park in Exeter today, they had quite a few printer cartridges on half price offer in a small clearance section. Some of these were Boots own brand and these are on a 'Buy One Get Second Half Price' offer. Therefore, with the HP No. 56 remanufactured Black Ink Cartridge reduced to £5.99, I was able to get 2 for £8.99. They are around £10.49 each online, so it seems like a good deal. In this clearance, they also had both branded and Boots brand cartridges for Epson, Lexmark and Cannon printers, as well as HP.

Im told if you keep power on to the printer, the slightly warm air from the power keeps the ink in its liquid form. Dont know how true this is as I always use my printer but anythings worth a try. When there's a knock at the door, why do dogs always think its for them?0

DocProc wrote:I've got an Epson RX640 and am having a lot of trouble with one particular colour, which has dried out - most probably because of under use.
All it says I can do in the book is run the procedure 'Head Cleaning'.
This doesn't work. That colour still stays blocked - and yes, I have changed the cartridge for yet another new one.
Can someone help with some good advice? A web site? A procedure? Or is it a case of professional help being required? If so my RX640 could most probably be a scrapper just for economic reasons, I would reckon?
Hi DocProc, Press-It do a range of cleaning cartridges that might help, £2.28 + dreaded delivery. Considering how much your printer costs I think it's worth a try. If it's only one colour that's blocked you may only have to buy that one specific cleaning cartridge I guess. I did a search on Ebuyer for R300 (I think that's the correct cartridge range but double check for yourself). Link below:
Pressit cleaning cartridges use a safe solution of specially formulated solvents and detergents to clean the whole print head quickly and thoroughly.

Epson have a reputation for being prone to blocked nozzles. If you only print occassionally it might be an idea to print a page once a week to keep your printer "healthy".Ye'!, And!!?. How am I supposed to know?0 -
Called Boots yesterday to see if any of the Epson R200 are still available anywhere. Turns out the last one of the South East is quietly sitting in the store in Uxbridge.
Collected it today, box not looking too new, but everything inside new. Many thanks to OP!0
