Hmm, not sure whether you're being abit unfair quoia. ...........................

Hi. Sadly you've missed most of my points and got your calculations wrong.

I appreciate it was a free film and I enjoyed it very much, however Showcase obviously had no forethought and then handled the situation very poorly and ineptly.
As I said before, why didn't they PLAN to use the largest capacity screen anyway ? It was never going to have more than a dozen or so people in it for whatever movie they would have shown from 3pm to 6pm on a Thursday afternoon, so arranging the schedule for one that finished in that largest screen at 17:55 instead of 18:55 was perfectly feasible. I know you can't kick people out be there 10 or just 1, but given the time of day (Thursday afternoon) there was absolutely NO reason that anyone HAD to be in that screen at that time.

When they PANICKED,(which is exactly what they did for no reason whatsoever - at one point "running round" resembling headless chickens) they LIED to at least those standing at the front of the queue as to why there was a delay and how long we would have to wait. They "didn't come clean" until at least 25 minutes after they started this debacle.
The woman who eventually said she had "misunderstood" either lied again, because she hadn't misunderstood at all and didn't want to tell us the truth that it was going to be at least 40 minutes before we would be seated, preferring to tell us it was going to be 5-10 minutes on 3 separate occasions 10 minutes apart befor the final "truthful" 5-10 minutes about 18:50, OR she really does have the intelligence of a fly with a severe brain injury. I perfectly understood what the manager had said (before 18:30) about the film not finishing until at least 18:55, and he wasn't talking to me, whereas he was talking directly to this woman.
The T&Cs of seefilmfirst and the fact that any screening could be full, totally negates the actions of the Showcase management. In the very very rare cases that this happens it is normal for the cinema to allow entrance to any other film that is about to start or give out complimentary tickets for a future visit to anyone that fails to gain entrance. A seat is not guaranteed !
As for seefilmfirst having "total control" over number of tickets issued - this is nonsense - they can't issue 1500 of them and have 1000 people turn up when the largest single screen only holds 250.
They may issue 200 knowing that they only expect 150 to turn up but this would be based on Showcase saying the screen held 160, because I'm sure that if the information was that it held 250 they would have issued 300 tickets instead and 220 to 240 people would have turned up. They don't just pick numbers at random, it will be based on capacity, film "popularity", likely takeup/non-redemption and feedback from previous events.

As for the timings, yes we were a little earlier than planned due to not hitting some traffic congestion that is nomally the case. However the doors should have opened at 18:00 (standing in a queue for only 10 minutes) and we would have been seated for the 30 minutes before it started at 18:30.
At it happened we stood for an EXTRA 1 hour and 5 minutes from 18:00 to 19:05, and the film started 50 minutes late at 19:20.

Why it didn't start "immediately" given that everyone was in their seats by 19:10 can't be down to "transferring film reels and changing schedules". The electronic displays outside each of the screens involved started to be updated at 18:45 with new times and film titles, and the reels themselves could have been in the projection booth by 18:30 given the change had apparently been decided by 18:20.

As for the numbers, trust me no more than 150 bums were on seats !
And if you are in the last 10% - 15% of the queue for a nearly full screening don't EXPECT to be sat in pairs.

Overall this was customer service at its worst NOT at its best.

Ian McShane and Christopher Eccleston bring you the excitement of Dr Who and the SFX of Harry Potter in this exciting new film, which opens in cinemas on Friday.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Susan Cooper, THE DARK IS RISING, starring Christopher Eccleston, is the first film adaptation of the author's acclaimed The Dark Is Rising Sequence. The film tells the story of Will Stanton, a young man who learns on the eve of his 11th birthday, he is the last of a group of warriors who have dedicated their lives to fighting the forces of the Dark. Travelling back and forth through time, Will discovers a series of six mysterious & magical signs - Wood, Bronze, Iron, Water, Fire & Stone - which lead him into a showdown with forces of unimaginable power. With the Dark once again rising, the future of the world rests in our hero's hands.

Just saw Stardust and thought it was such a good film and really funny too. It had a bit of everything in it. There was a good few seats empty which was surprising.
