been to see stardust tonight at gateshead - very good film0

I also went to see stardust tonight in nottingham - so many people turned up, they had to move us to a bigger screen! Very nice of them really, they could have just turned people away. We did have to wait for the peeps in that screen to leave but the film only started 1/2 an hour later than scheduled and I absolutely loved it, Charlie Cox is fit
. I took my 9 yr old sister, she enjoyed it too, although she was fidgeting until about half way through, which meant she was a bit bored, and then found the last half a bit scary tbh.
Best film I've seen for free though.Reclaiming for family and friends. Won 4/13 so farHSBC CC - £263.25, Halifax CC - £179.45, HFC PPI - £589.00, HSBC PPI - £498.86, Lloyds PPI 1 - £4000 -

Hi
How long does it normally take to get the txt back as i have been waiting about 5 minutes.
Nutter
Hi Nutter - Sorry, I'm not sure coz I'm new to this. I requested mine via email & it came instantly. 2 mins later, got an email for confirmation from filmfirst. But, I have no printer at home - so got it saved as pdf & get it printed at work!
Perhaps you can submit for another request via the printing method?

Went to the same screening.
Agree about Stardust - very good film - recommend it to all, good story, good acting, well filmed. Will appeal to a wide ranging audience.
Disagree about Showcase and "Very nice of them really, they could have just turned people away."
TOTAL C0CKUP !
I was 3rd in the queue, right at the front- got there at 5:50pm - heard most of the discussion and conversations of managers and supervisors from 6:20pm until 6:50pm. If they want to tell us lies about what is happening and why there is a delay, then they should keep their voices down or have "meetings" in a closed room without an audience.
Yes they did think too many people had turned up and there was a mention of being limited to 160 in the original screen, so they did a head count and found 130 in the queue. This was at about 18:25 and it appears they panicked for some reason. By this time we had been told at least twice that it would only be 5 minutes before we could go in. 1st because the previous film hadn't finished and then because it was being cleaned. Bull$hit. Right until we eventually went in, not a single person, cleaner or otherwise, entered or left any of the screens in that corridor, except the screen we ultimately used which had about 10 people exit a few minutes before we entered.
After the announcement of "too many" and the need to change, a women came across and said another 5 to 10 minutes waiting - this was about 18:30.
Sadly (for Showcase) I had just heard one manager say to another that the film wasn't due to end until 18:55 at the earliest. The same woman came back at 18:45 and said the she had misunderstood what was happening, what she had been told and that basically she was stupid, because it was going to be at least ANOTHER 10 minutes because the film in "our screen" wasn't going to end until at least 18:55. YES I overheard that about 20 minutes earlier.
Then they blamed the entire thing on Seefilmfirst because all these tickets where handled, issued, controlled by this outside promotions agency and Showcase had absolutely NO IDEA how many people would be turning up.
Anyway after standing there for 75 minutes finally let in about 19:05, and did the film start IMMEDIATELY like we had been told it would ? NO. Sat there for at least 15 minutes - so at least 50 minutes late !
And guess what? The need for the larger screen was totally unfounded. There was over 100 empty seats and only 150 occupied in our final destination.
The original screen would have taken all those that turned up.
PI$$ up and brewery spring to mind!
I can't understand (if "numbers" are an issue) why the largest screen isn't reserved for these events as a matter of course. On a Thursday afternoon I can't believe that the screen with greatest capacity HAS to be used for the screening of ANY particular film due to the expected audience. If my experience is anything to go by I bet they struggled ALL DAY to achieve double figures for most screenings AND NEVER reached a 3 figure audience until 18:00 had long come and gone.
Indeed for the hour and more that I stood there I don't believe that anywhere near 100 people had tickets checked at the central access point through which everyone passes to get to any of the 12 screens.
Hardly thronged with cinema goers having to be herded like sardines !
And was there an apology? The weakest and feeblest ever given !

Lol, sorry quoia, I was a bit further back and only got the 'for the public' bullsh*t version of the story obviously, they made it sound like they were doing us a favour! I had no reason to not believe them when they said there were too many people. We got there about 6.05pm and with a 9 yr old, its not fun waiting for an hour. I think maybe the fact that the film was so good distracted me from the fact we had to wait for ages, although I do agree that it was completely ridiculous to make us wait in the screen watching adverts when we had already waited 45 mins.
Its a shame I didn't know you were there, it would have been lovely to meet you as I've never met another MSE before and I do appreciate all the work you do for the daily newspaper thread.Reclaiming for family and friends.
