    - Lady came into the store last week she ordered a cake for her mother's birthday

    - The cake hasn't arrived into the store where she has come in to collect it (system says ready to be dispatched)

    - Your manager is out on lunch and there is no one around you can turn to for advice

    - Cake Takes one week to make

Anyway, the role play started when she confronted me, saying that she has ordered a cake, and she has come into the store to collect it, - me acting out the role play, i asked her details and pretending to look it up on the system. - I told her it hasn't arrived in the store, i did apologize to her about this and explained that this is was our fault and i was ready to offer her a full refund.

So the cake was ready and waiting for her and she wanted it. Instead of finding a way of getting the cake to her (did you ask he if she was prepared to go to the depot?)you gave her her money back? So she is unhappy as doesn't have the cake + M&S lose out since the cake is made but no cash. I would have fired you for this alone had you been working for me less than a year. Not surprised you didn't get the job.

Anyway i was then told to wait in a room, where i was then introduced to a line manager of the store, which then asked me a few questions about my background, there were no right or wrong answers.
    How do you know this?

But he was not working for you, so you would have to use the conditional even with a real cake. Can anyone put a cherry on this?

  • SG - thanks for the laugh this morning.

OP - another thing I wondered about your response in the role play is that you say 'the role play started when she confronted me, saying that she has ordered a cake'

Confronted? That's being aggressive. Why would she have confronted you about collecting her ordered cake? I'm sure she just asked for it. Did you somehow deal with her as if she were an awkward/complaining customer instead of someone nicely collecting an order? Confronted is such an odd word for you to use here and it makes me wonder if something aggressive showed in your attitude to her?
