So this week went well, we got a free meal and the rest went according to plan. I have finally re-joined the Grocery Challange and feel like things are back on track
NB. I have Insulin Resistance and therefore eat a Low Gi/GL diet, so sometimes the boys eat different or altered meals (I don’t want people to think I cater for fussy eaters!)
Friday - LO Messy Sandwiches
Saturday - Frickadellen and Veg (with Mash for the Boys)
Sunday - Brisket and Veg (with Chips for the Boys)
Monday - LO Frickadellen with Coleslaw (and Chips for the Boys)
Tuesday - LO Brisket and HM Yorkshire Pudding with Sweetcorn
Wednesday - Cheese and Onion Pizza (with Chips for Boys)
Thursday - Toad in the Hole and veg (with Mash for Boys)
Hope everyone has a great week x

We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

Have a good week, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all, still here lurking & getting ideas:D
Still not back to "proper" cooking but will be giving it a bash tonight - my pal brought me some mags this morning & have found a great recipe for Sausages & Lentils (haven't cooked for a fortnight & totally sick of the 4 rotating meals from the freezer:o).
It says to add celery (which is one of only a handful of things I HATE) so will be leaving that out and hoping it's OK!
I may try adding a courgette instead as I was also brought one of these:D
Will have a hunt through and see what's left in the freezer and post a "first attempt" at a meal plan later on - even if it's all pre-cooked!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Again, this week depends on Giblets imminent arrival - I'm due on Saturday so all subject to change! I'm not feeling very inventive at the moment
Monday - [STRIKE]Fish, chips & peas (mushy for DH)[/STRIKE] Morphed into Fishfingers, beans & chips - didn't fancy plain fish
Tuesday - [STRIKE]Spaghetti & meatballs[/STRIKE] TBC

Thursday - Chicken Fajita's
Friday - Quorn chilli & rice
Saturday - pizza & garlic bread

Hope you don't mind me joining your thread
Last week went almost to plan, which was good considering I have been poorly.
I am on my own all week next week as OH in USA on business. I absolutely hate cooking for one - have never lived alone and just never know what to do when he goes away.
Monday 3rd - quick veg stir fry (working late)
Tuesday 4th - baked potato, tuna, salad
Wednesday 5th - pasta with HM sauce from freezer
Thursday 6th - a weight watchers meal (I know, I know! I never ever ever use ready meals...except when he's away cos after just three days of meals I've run out of ideas!)
Friday 7th - taking a school trip to the theatre, leaving straight after school and not getting back until midnight so will probably have to grab a sandwich or something at some point
Saturday and Sunday - OH will get back Saturday morning! haven't decided yet but Saturday dinner will be something really special and Sunday lunch will probably be roast chicken.0 -
It's a tight month, so I'm trying to buy in only what we need, and to use what's already in the fridge/freezer/cupboards etc
OH never eats breakfast, so I send him to work with a breakfast bar.I always have porridge. Lunch for him is 2 sandwhiches (Either ham, chicken, cheese) a bar of chocolate, celery, fruit (which ever I find for the cheapest, this week was strawberries and grapes from the market) a packet of crisps and orange squash. (you wouldn't think he's so skinny from all the food he eats!) I usually have a big bowl of vegetable soup, with miso, lentils, chickpeas etc
most meals served with a salad made up from the greenhouse or seasonal veg from the market.
Monday :
Spaghetti Bolognese (Turkey mince) (froze 2 portions at the start of the month, bulked it out with oats!)
Tuesday:
Tuesday
Toad in the whole (just need to buy milk)
Wednesdsay
Tuna Pasta Bake
Thursday
Chicken Legs and Wings,(I buy whole chickens, section them, and freeze the wings/legs untill I have enough for a meal) in soy sauce, honey and chinese 5 spice served
Friday
Sliced Beef, Mashpotato, Root Vegetables and Gravy
Saturday
Chicken and Lentil Curry
made with chicken stripped of the bone and frozen today.
Sunday
Chicken breast, mash potato, roast potato, vegetables, yorkshire puddingsWeightloss: 18lbs/28lbs (Start weight: 11st, Current 9st 10)

Hello, I'd like to join in please
. I tend to dip in and out of oldstyle (well the board that is) but try to keep up the planning. We are getting into a bit of a sticky mess at the moment due to the current financial crisis so we are really trying to reign everything in. We are going on the holiday of a lifetime next August (2 weeks in florida- yay!) but will need to save £4500 minimum  to pay for park tickets and spends and a bit towards the holiday.
So, I'll list what we have so far.... Friday: Gumbo and rice, Saturday: Gumbo and pasta. Sunday: Everyone out at MiL's apart from me as I'll be in bed. I'll have a sandwich.
Monday: Garlic chicken thighs, mash, carrots and swede.
Tuesday: Carbonara (courgettes from garden), Cherry pie
Wednesday: Pie/pastie, oven chips and beans
Thursday: Pork chops, mash, swede/carrots, sweetcorn
Friday: Roast beef, potatoes, ?yorkshire puds, swede and carrots.
Saturday: Spanish omelette (tomato, potato, any courgettes from the garden, onion)
Sunday: Out to MiL's.
We have a drawer full of bread stuffs in the freezer and tons at MiL's in her freezer so no need to make any for the foreseeable. Lots of cereals/ porridge/ muesli. Sliced cheese/ cream cheese/ ham aplenty. Lots of fruit (need to inspect the pears on the tree- think they've all been eaten which means we only salvaged 5 this year). Kids have plenty of biscuit bars too for their lunch boxes.
