    Cheap deals will be on the 3GS which is likely to be discontinued in five days time.

    Best avoid it for now, it will be supported in iOS5 but many people reported issues with the iphone 3g with iOS 4 as the phone was much slower and this may be the same with the 3gs/iOS5. The 3GS it's already three years old and you'd be best paying a bit more for the one year old iPhone 4.

    i would hazard a guess the 3gs will be priced very low to get rid of them all so the 4 will become base model once 5 is released.Seem to remember the same happening with the 3g when 4 got released.

    I think they are as low as Apple will let them go now. Come the 5th of October I suspect the 3GS remaining will be withdrawn and go to be the warranty replacment / repair units and the 4-8GB be the new base model.

    That is of course my guess not fact.
